Default Exhaust question

I’m looking to upgrade from stock exhaust on my 2014 Z51. I think I want a corsa xtreme and ARH longtube headers. Should I go that route or mid length headers and corsa x pipe? Should I go with corsa and ARH or other brands? My car has to stay street legal

Good luck finding an x pipe. Most are no longer able to sell these. EPA has shut most manufacturers down. If you don’t mind tuning the car, long tubes are the way to go

Okay, I have a dumb question. Do long tube headers connect directly to the exhaust? And would x pipe connect directly to mid length headers?

I have a Z but went with ARH mid length with high flow cats and corsa double helix x-pipe rear cat delete. I kept the OEM exhaust cause I do need the NPP. Wife works 3rd shift. The aftermarket exhaust w/NPP are pricey, so I went this route first to see if it was what I was wanting. Sounds amazing and couldn't be happier.

When you order headers they will come with a new Xpipe that will bolt up to the factory exhaust. ARH is a great option as they make one of the best kits on the market. The stock exhaust sounds pretty damn good with a set of long tubes and the factory NPP (valves) will give you an awesome mild to wild set up.

Most LTH will use their own X-pipe unless you use Corsa's, I believe those are a bit shorter and will connect to their X-pipe. Kooks or ARH would be the two to look at in LTH though. The ARH mid-length headers will connect to your X-pipe in the stock location. If you want a less expensive and easier install that gets 90% of the power gains of the LTs (and very similar to the mid-length headers) you could look at just replacing the mid-pipes which connect between the stock manifolds and stock or Corsa or AWE X-pipe. Not removing the manifolds is much simpler. Look at AFE's twisted steel mid-pipes for that.

I also have a 2014 Z51, I installed the Corsa Extreme cat-back system after having the Billy Boat LOUD exhaust, the Extreme isn't for everyone, it seems to carry a more appealing note than the BB which is mostly LOUD, IMO.

Here in California everything must meet CARB standards and that means no long tube headers.

I can send you a sound clip from my YouTube channel if you want?

Use one of the quality (meaning not cheap) long-tube headers, or save yourself the money and bother.
