I installed my MGW shifter last Sat. Watched videos and didn't have a problem. Tested it before I buttoned it up, but after I drive it when I'm in gear there side to side slop. I have no clue how that could happen. Without any smart *** comments, had anyone that's installed one have any ideas what it could be? Otherwise it shifts great.
I installed mine a couple of months ago and haven't experienced what you describe. Have you contacted MGW? They're usually pretty good about answering questions and providing advice.
I'll have to call them when I get a min. I have no idea why it would do that.
I have two of them (one in my GT500 and the other in my C7Z), and am also at a loss. Neither of mine has play in it. Both are much tighter than OEM. Hopefully, MGW can help.
Mine is tighter than sick and shifts perfectly. You don't even notice the play unless you move it left and right on purpose. I can't for the life of me think of what could cause it..
Does it happen in all gears? That doesn't sound normal. Are you sure it wasn't doing that prior to the MGW install? Maybe there is some sort of fitment/alignment issue. Did you use the centering tool to align the shifter?
Just picked my car up from the shop, was getting kooks headers and x pipe installed. The mechanic noticed the slop in the shifter and asked if I wanted him to fix it. I said ok. It turned out to be the bolt for the shifter cable, apparently they bolt wasn't tightened down enough. I put all the bolts in and then started snugging them down and I must have missed that one. The shifter feels incredible now.. The car sounds amazing! Very happy!

Never mind....I see you got it figured out

Has anyone experienced any rattle with the MGW shifter? I want to install this on my C7 Z06 as my first mod. I had installed a Hurst short throw in my Challenger several years back. Although the shift was night and day to OEM, the rattle from the Hurst drove me crazy!

I've experienced ZERO rattle from MGWs in my '13 GT500 (for almost 8 years & 25K miles) and my '19 Z06 (for almost 1 year & 2700 miles). Upgrade/install with confidence.

My MGW is due to arrive today and I am excited to do the install. I have watched the videos multiple time and anticipate no issues. Prior to my ordering (even before I got my car), I spoke with George @ MGW and he mentioned that the C7 didn't need to use the dynomat material as Chevy already put a sound barrier in those areas and there would not be room. He said all that was needed was the heat shield material. I don't see this anywhere in the videos and was wondering if I had heard this information wrong. Can anyone confirm if they used both the dyno mat and the heat shield on a c7? I have a 2019 Z06.
Thanks!

I had no trouble using it in my '19 Z06. If it fits in yours, use it. If it doesn't, I doubt you'd notice much of a difference.

Thanks Norton! Step 1. Twist boot collar counter clockwise... What a B..ch! Certainly not as easy as the MGW video shows. Found the answer on this forum though. Lift up, twist and... There you go!
Step 1 complete! 😊
