I was told I might I need to replace the clock spring because I’m getting a system stability,ABS problems and service steering rack after installing a supercharger kit on my car. One of the reason why is I ended up removing steering rack and turning the wheels to get the rack out of the car.
Has anybody ever replaced one of these and do they know where it would be located? I could really use some help on figuring this one out.
It's located right behind the steering wheel. It's basically a wound up coil of wires that makes the connection between the column harness and the steering wheel itself. It's the part in the middle.
thanks I just changed it out and it seems to have fixed my issues!!

how did you remove the housing around the clock spring? I removed the 3 bolts (sides & underneath) but can’t seem to pry the cover off. How many clips hold the top & bottom together and where are they located?
The vehicle gets steering angle from a sensor attached to the clock spring. You have to transfer the stalks and the sensor to the new clock spring.
This is how many older cars pre-EPS and early EPS cars got Steering Angle (yea funny the EPS doesn't know vehicle angle). At some point most OEMs started putting in sensors into the EPS Steering Racks. Cars with Column EPS still need one in the clock spring or some other method of finding vehicle 0.
