Default overheating

Guys I need your help . I got a 2014 Z51 that overheats , I changed the stat and temp sensor and also burped the system. I drove it in 90 degree weather for an hour , temp gauge stayed at 220 . later I walked around for about an hour
started the car and the temp gauge was at 260. I had no engine light car still ran fine but I was nervous to say the least being so far from home . can Anyone help with this ?

check the radiator for trash accumulation get rid of that stuff first,
if it is good a reverse flush of the cooling system may be in order

Replace the fan with the Z06 fan at 600 w of power. It is the fan controller doing the bad deed. THe fan and fan controller come as 1 part.

The temp gauge on 2014 is really just a 3 position indicator - cold, warmed up, and hot. You need to look at Tour / Info digital display for temps. This was corrected in later years. Lots of OLD threads on this.

I agree. The analog gauges only provide a relative idea of what the actual coolant temp is. Go to the Tour display and look at the digital gauges. The data is sent to the instrument panel in digital format. To make it show up on the analog gauge they convert from a digital signal to a variable voltage that causes the needle in the analog gauge to move (all electrical analog gauges are just voltmeters with different markings on their faces).

When it is spiking, is the fan screaming on high or no fan noise? Does shutting off the engine and restarting it get the fan to start running on high?

If yes, the it's the fancontroller.

I have a 2014. I replaced my fan/controller to stop the temp spikes. I've not had the problem come back since. It was 100° here today in FLorida and I ran 80 miles of highway and nada. No temperature issues.

Thanks for that , yes the fan stays on all the time , I went to the digital reading in tour mode and it said 208 but the analog needle said 260 and sometimes touching the fuel gauge needle . Even when starting the engine cold the analog reading starts at 220 ..
