Re-tune needed / locked ECU
I want a re-tune, but apparently, my ECU is locked by a shop that the previous owner took the car to. I’m not really sure how to proceed from here.
Shop A says the ECU is locked, but Shop B that tuned it says it isn’t locked. I’m really trying to avoid buying and reprogramming a new computer.

Notice he said properly locked tune. I just went through this when I got my car retuned last month. We didn't have the license code from the original tuner so I had to buy new credits so the new tuner could make changes. We could see all the parameters but we couldn't change anything until we downloaded the credits and got the new license. Call it what you want, but because we couldn't change anything, it was locked. Tell him to look in the "Calibration Details" window on the "Controllers" tab and see if it says locked. Then, he needs to double click it to "Unlock" it. He may also want to check in his "Tools / Options" menu and see if "Tunerlock all Supported Files" is checked.
Go there and let them show u it is unlocked. The new intake will require more air so i would think a tune will be beneficial.
