I have a 2015 Z06. I have installed a AFE intake and a borla x pipe delete. I want to run E85. I know I have to install the sensor and get it tuned. That's pretty much all I want to do to the car. I still want to pass smog inspection. I want to put the stock intake back in for smog. I'll install the sensor.
My question is will I be ok with the car being tune at smog. If I put the stocknparts back in?
I need help locating a good tuner. I am in Riverside area and work in OC. I am willing to drive up to the bay area if there are better tuners out there.
You should be ok with smog with the tune but the A/F ratio expected by the tune may be slightly off with the stock parts back on since they don't flow as well. I'm not in Cali so I can't tell you for sure if you'd pass smog with the aftermarket parts installed or not but I'd think you would, those are pretty mild and the rear cats don't do anything once the car's up to temp anyway, nor are they monitored by the ECU. The tune will take care of the A/F ratio and any CELs so you won't have to deal with that. You won't be able to run full E85, the fuel system on the Z doesn't handle that, so you'll have to mix it with pump gas but you should get to E55 or 60 which is pretty close to what pump E85 actually is (E70ish usually) and you won't be missing much power from that small difference.
CA will fail you for having a modified tune. If your car is track only, no problem. If you can reload your stock tune, it's not a problem. If "No" to either of those, you'll fail
