Installed the 92mm BBK throttle body in 2016 , z51, standard transmission corvette.
It is the second time I have had to do this as it threw the check engine light and reduced engine power error message,
The first throttle body was returned and then replaced with a new one.
After installation of the second throttle body (yesterday) and running the idle learning procedure the car ran fine.
I shut the engine off and restarted the engine.
The engine threw a check engine light and engine power reduced, the same check engine event and the same reduced engine power error as it did with the first throttle body installation.
Has anyone had this problem?
Part # 1899.
I would take it to any auto parts store or buy a cheap reader on Amazon to see if its the same code
You don't have any kind of throttle controller on it do you like a Vitesse or a Soler do you?
If not and the orginal throttle body works fine, and you tried two of the ported BBK throttle bodies then I would say it's something with the BBK and the porting as the ECM is trying to learn the correct position that produces a smooth idle and for whatever reason it can't. Maybe the porting is causing an anomaly or an out of range condition that the ECM cannot handle
Don't drive it far or fast as I am confident that at some point it will go into low power mode and that can only be reset with either a code reader or so many starts without the fault
I just bought a basic code reader because I have access to GM GDS2 diagnostic software , take a look on Amazon as you can by anything from a basic reader that will read and clear all basic codes all the way up to one that is just as good as the GM GDS2 were it will scan ,clear codes and program modules all the way down to the individual module
Here is what I bought for 25 bucks it has served me well for reading and clearing basic codes and is usually all you need
Dave
Just got my code reader.
Still P2176 error code.
Then $07e8 in small letters.
"Throttle actuator
control system idle
position not learned."
Same as first two times.
Is there a way to reset the throttle body learning process and start from scratch?
There is a way in GM GDS2 to force a learn but disconnecting the battery does the same thing , I am still going with BBK either has a batch of bad throttle bodies or they took to much off when porting and the ecm cannot find a position the provides a reliable idle
I know this is an old Thread. However, I just now noticed it because I did a search/review on BBK Throttle Body 1899 - all I want to say is this same thing happened to me immediately after I installed the Throttle Body on my 2019 GS - the following is what I sent to BBK - It caused my car to miss-fire immediately after the car started - check engine light came on and loss of power on the dash.
I'm waiting for a replacement as I write this, by the I reinstalled the stock TB and everything is fine.
That code is popped when the ECU is unable to determine which throttle blade positions the car need to idle properly and transition through certain modes to maintain target torque(airflow). You can try pulling the battery to reset and see if it will learn again, but in my experience, throw that TB in the trash and get a ported stock unit.
