Default Sensor Fialure P0106

2017 Z06/Z07, mileage 2,542 of which 500 miles was engine break-in. Fresh engine oil and filter, fuel used is unleaded non-ethanol 91 octane with sufficient octane boost additive per additive directions.
During a track event at VIR October 14, lap 3 of 30 minute session and two laps completed, I experienced a loss of engine power on the back straight approaching 150 MPH at 4000 RPM in 4th gear as I was cresting the top of the hill incline. I pulled off track and took it to track mechanic to find out what caused the loss of power, engine light icon came on when engine lost power. Computer error code displayed ( P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance ) failure. I had track mechanic cancel the fault code and I took back on track for the next 30 minute session, I completed three laps without incident and the car again lost engine power under same acceleration conditions in same track location. I decided to end running the car because the loss of engine power occurred while other drivers following at distance directly behind me were unaware that my car was slowing down until I signaled a track pass.
I took car to dealer to perform error code evaluation and repair. The repair was a "software update available to fix an intermittent P0106. Suggest re-programming ECM and test driving to verify no DTC's reset". Car was only road tested by dealer mechanic at regular highway speed and the only way I have of finding out if software update will work is at the next track event in the spring of 2022.
Gentlemen, my question to those of you that use this model for HPD or other events with full on, top end acceleration has experienced this performance engine failure and if so did this software upgrade solve the problem?
I appreciate your assistance.

It looks like your dealer mechanic is on top of things. This was a hot button in 2017. You should be OK. If you do a search on P0106 you will see where new 2017 owners had the same issue back in late 2016 and during 2017. A TSB was issued to address the issue. The TSB directed mechanics to install an ECM update that corrected the issue.

Bil, Thank you for the error code explanation. You provided me the comfort level to continue tracking the car and not retiring it and giving to my wife for her to go shopping. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Bruce
