Default Changing SSID ?

I've purchased a 2nd hand 2016, and have noticed my phone wants to attach to the local network, but the network has the previous owner's name in it. i can't find any instructions on how to change the SSID of the network. does this have to be done by a dealer?

Looks like you may need to change that in the OnStar app.

Just download the MyChevrolet app and configure it for your car / OnStar account. You can then change both the SSID and the password if desired.

i don't have, and don't plan, on getting an Onstar account, and don't have access to the previous owner's account. i downloaded and created a mychevrolet account, but there still seems to be no way to do this.

If you're not using OnStar, then having a working SSID doesn't mean anything. The SSID is for the OnStar based 4G hostspot functionality. It doesn't do anything if there's no active account.

In order to change the stale Hotspot info, You'd probably have to sign up for an OnStar trial, reconfigure it and then cancel the trial before you get billed.

I have a 2018 Stingray. My phone is paired to my radio. I also turned on the data (WiFi) hotspot feature on my phone. When I startup, the infotainment system hooks up to the internet via my phone. It functions just like an OnStar data subscription except I'm using my phone data. Maybe that would work for you.

Try resetting the Infotainment to factory settings as described in your Infotainment manual on page 68:
"Return to Factory Settings

factory settings.
Select Return to Factory Settings
and the following list may display:

Cancel or Continue. If Continue
is pressed, a confirmation
pop-up will appear indicating the
vehicle settings have been
restored.
. Clear All Private Data: Clears all

All Private Data. Touch Cancel
or Continue. If Continue is
touched, a confirmation pop-up
will appear indicating all private
data has been cleared from the
system."
