I have a 2019 1LT without NPP exhaust, I occasionally see folks wanting to put the NPP exhaust systems on cars similar to mine, but there is no way to easily integrate the NPP control system to a standard non NPP car. I have seen the after market controllers and also saw where one fellow fabricated a small "L" shaped device that goes into the tail pipe to hold the valve open.
I was looking at a photo of an NPP system that is for sale here on the forum and would like to know what is inside the black box in the picture below.
Certainty it has a motor or actuator of some sort to open or close the valve. Can that black box be opened or removed to gain access to the actuator thus allowing you to open or adjust the valve manually?
Idea being to do that as a way to hold the valve in what ever position you desire without the expense of the aftermarket controller or sticking something in the tail pipe?
TIA
Yes it can. Mine are off the car now because I was originally thinking through ways to be able to rig some kind of actuator. Once the box is off you can rotate the valve by hand but it is strongly spring loaded to full open so wear some gloves. This is what you have w/ the actuator removed.

I keep thinking about some type of cable running to a small lever hiden in the console but have mine held about 1/2 open w/ the aluminum piece and just haven't gotten around to spending the time and $ to do that. Also it would need two cables and a way to keep the two fairy well synched w/ each other. The actuator is attached w/ 3 small screws so no problem removing or installing it. Once off you can easily rotate the plate on the actuator and it is not spring loaded in any way so you can easily rotate it if needed to line back up to reinstall. Sorry about the double pics that Flickr insists on doing. I tried the forum method of posting a pic and that makes the pic so large it is near full screen and you need to scroll up/dn and L/R to look at it.

Thanks for the info and pictures, the mufflers I was looking at were for sale here on the forum and just a couple hours west of me, have vanished, so I will have to wait until I can find a set to tinker with.
