Default Clearing P2098 and P2096 codes

Good Day,

I am hoping to gain some guidance/insight on how to keep my CEL from coming on. I have a '19 GS with full catless exhaust (both downpipes and x-pipe) and that is the cars only mods. I am also running O2 sims/dummy foulers which should prevent any codes/CEL. Now this hasn't been an issue up until recently when my check engine light came on and codes P2096 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1) and P2098 (Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1) came up on my scanner. The car has 13k miles and performs great. Not sure after a couple of years since the new exhaust work was done the codes are popping up. Does anyone have any insights on how to clear this codes or what should be done? Am I at the point that I should take it to a performance shop to have it properly tuned? I cleared the codes once, but the CEL came back on again the other day when I took it for a drive. Thanks for any advise.

I believe you have an actual problem that needs to be fixed and its not a matter of clearing the fault. I would suggest you bring it in to diagnose.

P2098 is bank 2, isn't it?

Had an issue with my MB once where the upstream O2 was bad. Fine. We changed it. Still bad. They swore the downstream one was not an issue. It must be the upstream. Changed downstream and life was good. I think your upstream might be doing something wrong in this case and since the O2 sims give it a flat voltage of maybe 0.45V. It thinks that the cat is doing too good of a job? Just a theory. Or was the car tuned for it all so that it expects certain numbers?

WELCOME to the Forum !!…I’d suggest taking your car to a diagnostic shop and not a dealer and not an independent shop…get your issue resolved before you get it tuned…tuning isn’t really going to fix the lean codes.

Can he read the data to see if he is getting a lean reading in the upstream and maybe change the sensors?
