So I just got an Ottocast U2-NOW on Ebay for $60. One of the best mods Ive done to the car so far with regards to convenience/comfort. Phone connects right up to Carplay wirelessly now. Commands arent delayed, sound is great and I have yet to run into an issue. Super stoked!
Just a heads up. Updating to iOS version 15.3 or above will render this device useless. Not sure about Android.
Incorrect. The latest update fixed the issue.
I am on 15.4.1 and have zero issues whatsoever. I emailed support and they were very responsive in letting me know that the new iOS fully supports the unit. I get in the car, it show the connection sequence on screen for a few seconds and the phone is connected as if on cable. The only caveat I have noticed so far is the volume, you want to have your phone volume up most of the way to get best volume in the car. It is a bit of balance.

So you leave the Ottocast plugged in (either behind the screen or the center console), and it automatically connects to the phone when you get in?

Yep. That's the idea. It does take a little while for the connection to be made. Usually about 15 to 30 seconds for me, or about the time it takes me to back out of the garage and reach the end of my driveway.
For Android, I tried two products. For the C7, the better one is AAWireless. It took 6 months to recieve it, but that was a couple years ago. I am not sure what the wait is now. It works great!
There is a new on on Amazon for Android specifically and it it is not as stable as the AAWireless. OTTOCAST Wireless Android Auto Adapter U2-X
Either way, you definitely need a Qi charger or your phone battery will not last long.
Love mine - first mod I did. Added a proclip with apple charger and it's perfect. Short trips can just leave the phone in my pocket, or I can toss it on the charger.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have been back/forth on adding something like this. It isn't horrible to plug in the phone but sometimes a buzz kill.
When I use a map APP on the iPhone, I plug in to keep the phone charged. Otherwise, I just keep the phone in my pocket to receive calls and use the car's mike and speakers.

Do any of these let you run nav w/o a cord? My 19 w/ Android phone does music and phone fine but needs the wire connection for nav.
Yes, lets you run waze, and google maps wirelessly. You will need a good Qi charger as AA consumes the battery rapidly.
I originally bought the AAWireless one for Android Auto and it works perfectly in the C7. No problems on the C7. I bought another AAWireless for my daily driver Volvo and on that platform when I use Waze, the voice directions cut out at the end. It does not do that on the C7. I recommend the AAWireless one for the C7.
I bought the Ottocast model that they now have for Android Auto from Amazon and it was unstable and I returned it. It did however not cut off the voice directions on Waze, but it was too quirky compared on the AAWireless, at least for Android Auto. Plus the Ottocast was double the cost of AAWireless!
You need to upgrade your HMI, and possibly the Radio modules and USB port. I highly recommend Mr. Anthony Brush @ MVI as I tried multiple vendors and he is the only one that could get everything working properly on my 2015. Definitely worth the cost.
Then you can plug in a wireless dongle, and I recommend AAWireless for Android phones.
