Default Checking 2016 automatic oil level

I am not a mechanic and new to the C7, so bear with me. I need to check the oil level in my 2016 automatic transmission. In obtaining the proper trans temperature, if I drive the car to my mechanic's shop [20 miles] would the temp possibly be too high? Can I read the transmission temperature on the dash somewhere?

If it's to high driving normal then you have problems. , yes you can read the temp on the dash

There is always a lot of talk about doing the check after bringing the temp up to an exact level so I assumed highway driving for 20 miles might take the temp beyond that desired number.

also long as nothing is wrong with your trans it should be operating at the desired temp for checking. U will be ok
Before driving you did check it once already right if not you could be over filled

OK so driving temp is about the same as checking temp. Understood. Plus I know now I can monitor it on the dash.
Yes we checked it already
