Hello Members
Since yesterday my soft top on my C7 Bj 2015 no longer works. When opened, the top folded behind the seats as it should, but the boot lid didn't close. The message is now "the convertible top can only be operated manually." I've disconnected the battery twice but it doesn't help. If I pull up the top by hand, I can close it with the switch, but when I open it the lid just won't close. My logic now tells me that there seems to be no feedback that the top is down so that the trunk lid can close. Indicates a defective switch. Is there a circuit diagram or a plan where the location of the microswitches can be seen. Would be very grateful for information.
Many greetings
My personal opinion on this is - take it to the dealer and let them screw with that. Too many factors and chance of bending / breaking something. It's probably a sensor or a switch, but you'd be 6 weeks trying to 1 - get to them and 2 - figure out which one it is and replacing the right one. I don't like going to the dealer either, but if they screw something up - it's on them, not you.
There are 23 failure codes related to the folding top. If you have a scanner with the equivalent capability as the GM MDI tool you should be able to read them. If you can determine the code causing the message then I can post the diagnostic process to follow. This code like most body codes doesn't set any light off on the IP and can't be read by an OBDII scanner. You know it is present because something doesn't work properly.
