Default Tune Needed??

I have a C7 Z51 and I'm planning on installing an AFE cold air intake, Mamo Motorsports throttle body, ARH mid length headers and I already have an x-pipe without the secondary cats. Should I need a tune after installing everything? Thanks

To get the best possible outcomes for the mods I would most definitely tune it.

Not tuning is like taking a shower with your shoes on ....

You will almost certainly throw a code if you don't.....too many changes in airflow without addressing it in the ECM will throw codes and probably a limp mode also

Basically the computer trying to "save you" seeing far too much air movement at certain load and throttle positions that are outside of the range the OEM tune has been programmed for

Not tuning is silly really unless your trying to fly under the radar due to a warranty......if that's the case kill the headers from your plan and there is an OK chance the computer wont get "cranky" with the other airflow upgrades

Hope this helps

-Tony

I’m not the OP, but this explanation does help. I’ve also been contemplating mid-length headers. I currently have ported TB, Vararam TCR-7 air intake, and x-pipe. In your estimation adding mid-lengths would be problematic without tuning? My consideration for not tuning is purely due to warranty. I had a previous unmodded C7 that had extreme build issues. Not modding/tuning saved my wallet a fair amount. If the ECM is maxed out with these mods, I think I’ll leave it as-is until the warranty is done.

Thanks

Adding any Headers will void you warranty.

Headers wont fly with the OEM calibration.....best to leave it as is till your prepared to tune the ECM

I have installed headers on plenty of cars in the past, the last being 20 years ago. The best I ever found were all "Jet Heat Coated" or "Ceramic Coated" to insulate from heat. They did a fair job but weren't great.

Hopefully the newer headers do as well as a job of heat dissipation as the stock manifolds do or personally I would shy away from them.

How good are they these days/
