It's in the right rear and just clips in. Very easy to remove/ replace. Jacking it up a little does help.

The new module will not come programmed, with that the car wont be driveable until it is programmed.

Sorry to burst your joy, HP Tuners cant handle this. The new TCM comes bare with no OS on it and the VIN has not been flashed either. So unless the place you are buying the TCM from is programming the TCM that idea wont work. Also if this is a 2017+ TCM it will need to be unlocked by HPT again before you can tune it.

Did not know. Guess it adds another step to my repair. Good news is a friend is a Vet tech at local Chevy store.. Any idea/estimate on programming costs?

Thanks for update.

Might be an idea Bryan. Right now my car is immobile/in my garage. As I understand it, now, TCM has to be in car to be programmed, I don't know or can TCM be programmed on a carry in basis?

Maybe see if HPTuner can program my "new" TCM or a buy a preprogrammed TCM from HP Tuner. Turning out to be a PITA based on what I didn't know..

When you pull your TCM there will be a "Service Number" on the label of the TCM, make sure to take a picture of that label. Then you can see if HPT has that TCM in stock. If they do then yes you can order a unlocked and preprogrammed TCM from them. It comes with the OEM calibration on it, you will just have to license the new TCM (4 credits at $50 each) and then flash the new TCM with your TCM file that has your changes.

Thanks for reply. So I need to buy a TCM from HPT. I have a ticket in for more info on options if I go through HPT.. Price seems to be $299-$399. I assume that is for the credits and ECM w/programming.

My car is a `15 so not sure why I would have to cough up $200 /4 credits. I'll contact them Monday. I have a new one coming Tuesday but if I can find a way to obtain a working TCM Monday, I am all in.. Looks like HPT is 1st choice depending on turn-around..

Thanks for info. Will see how call goes Monday..

So, bought a new jack, located TCM, pushed red lock clip forward, wiring harness not separating from harness.. Does harness pull straight down from TCM? Just trying to be careful with harness and plug..

Update, got wiring harness released, cannot remove TCM from bracket. Video for c7 shows installer pushing up release on bracket release. I can push up on release but tcm will slide out.. Anyone see me missing anything?

I found one video of TCM R&R. Literally a b4 and after video.. Not much value,

If you have a 2015 you wont need the unlock service, will just need a new TCM programmed with the correct VIN and OS. To license the new TCM is 2 credits which is $100.

Also found out that 2015/2016 cannot be bench programmed. TCM has to be installed in car to program.. Got new TCM installed. Now trying to find a dealer to tow vehicle to to get programmed.

Hopefully the dealer wont rape you over the coals since you didnt buy the module from them and pay their labor for a install that only takes 5 minutes.

Thanks for tip. I did find one person in my market who has a mobile programming for GM. He seems to only work with dealer network but may make an exception for me.. Will know Friday. Found two people on FB who do same but require me to purchase $4K in scan software. LOL..
