Default Adding headers and Tune…what else

Hey everyone,

im having some Lt and catted x pipe installed on my grand sport m7 along with a dyno tune. I figured at this expense, what else should I just do at the same time? CAI, TB etc?

thanks for the suggestions

CAI is common. I put one on mine, but I have to wonder exactly how much HP are we getting for these things. I did headers/X pipe/tune on mine and got 440 at the wheel. My next will be a ported intake and probably an A&A. Then there is meth. A cam and A&A run about the same money, but you'll get more for your money with forced induction is my understanding. Plus I like the sleeper approach.

Definately do the flex fluel sensor, I did & love it. Cheap HP! I stayed NA and went with ceramic coated 1-7/8" long tubes / non-catted X-pipe (Kooks). On the inhale side, I added a CAI, ported TB & a ported MSD intake manifold. Added a few things that doesn't do much, but dressed up the engine bay some, with valve covers, plug wires, plugs/boots, coil packs, hoses, etc. Put down 486 RWHP on the Mustang dyno. Made me very happy!

Best mods for the LT1 IMO:

-Ported Intake Manifold
-Ported 87mm TB(anything bigger is useless)
-GM Performance Intake OR BMS drop in(if you're getting tuned, none of the intakes have an advantage and the BMS drop in into the stock filter box is plenty. Personally, the Jake intake & filter looks better)
-Long Tubes with catted X pipe (1 7/8 inch)
-Flex Fuel

Optional:
-Wideband Sensor
-Fuel-it Bluetooth Ethanol Content Sensor(so you can see your ethanol content on your phone and not need to install a gauge)

These mods will get you a really nice bump in power and work together to pick up mid range torque and top end HP.

Do this and then a good tune! You will be glad you did!

Would you consider mods like 2" headers and 95mm throttle body just unnecessary or actually detrimental? I'm shopping for both at the moment and curious what your thoughts are. I do have an MSD intake on the way, not ported.

If you're not doing heads/cam then 2inch headers is overkill. The 1 7/8 typically respond better in the mid range on mild NA motors. The 95mm TB is also in the same boat, a port 87mm would be plenty of extra air. However, if you're going with the MSD, the 95mm isn't going to hurt anything at all. Either way I would avoid any of the conversion plates that make the 95mm TB bolt up to an 87mm snout on an NA. You gain nothing but a worse fitting intake filter pipe.

If you're ever going to do heads/cam then go with the 2 inch headers from the start,.
