Default Header install thread

Have done advanced search C7 tech, looked at all the stickys on "how too" and cant find anything.
I remember reading a very comprehensive install here on a dry sump car.
Anybody save this thread or a link??
Thanks,
Bill

Unsolicited advice... don't cerakote them... waste of money.

Another good thread - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...xperience.html

And another - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-to-help.html

I just installed ARH - no trouble at all... well, except I did have to expand the ARH pipes a bit - maybe because I have 40k miles.

The sound is fantastic - well that and the A&A noises - a concert of sound.

Why do you think that? What do you suggest?

I guess some explanation would help.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit, I didn't research cerakote sufficiently... I was really looking for thermal management and while the cerakote that was applied is good to "1850?" degrees F, it does nothing to reduce under hood heat. And despite great care, the finish is so fragile that simply tapping a wrench against the finish tightening header stud nuts is sufficient to chip the finish.

So, it looks fantastic...

This picture shows contact damage when I installed the header installed (with cotton towels wrapped around them)...

And next, what happened when a tech, during dyno tuning, had to pull a spark plug boot with spark plug boot pliers...

And then what a couple wrench contact taps did tightening the header nuts...

Someday I'll pull them and get them ceramic coated. I have powder coated items more resilient than this stuff... glad I didn't have any of my wireless hole punches done in this stuff.

Pictures did help more. LOL

So it looks good for an ornament in my living room but totally worthless for thermal management. IOW, Don't buy it for the headers in the car. I don't care how it looks. I want it to reduce underhood temps if I get it.

Are you going to do it inside and out or just outside? I have had my TPIS ones on the C4 inside and out. Not sure about the ROI on a C7

Did you have to get a tune after installing?? also I was informed that if my GS is 17 18 19 I need to send the transmission module out for reprogramming?? I was quoited a price of 2200 to install and retune.

cerakote isnt for heat management its for allowing a color to be applied to a high heat source and not peel off. thats why guns are cerakoted. you need to look onto jet hot coating if you want heat management

Oh, I got that... now. As I said, I failed to research the product sufficiently. However, I'd never apply this to any of my firearms... I carry mine or use them in shooting competitions. They aren't for display cases... so the last thing I want is to apply a nice color to have it prove so fragile that it's only good for looking and not touching.

I did get a tune, but I also installed an A&A supercharger so there wasn't really any choice in the matter.
