Default Intermittent headlight issues

I have a 16 stingray. My driver side headlamp bulb is intermittent. When I start the car it will light and it goes out when I drive. I have purchased 2 new bulbs and Im going to replace them tomorrow. Is this a bulb failure or something else?
Pic for attention

Thank you
Mike

That is typically a failing bulb. Mine failed the same way.

A lot of these intermittent issues are sometimes ground issues…I’d also look at the connector for terminals that may be spread apart.

I replaced both headlights and this fixed my intermittent headlight issue.

This is the normal, end-of-life failure mode for the bulb. These are 35 Watt bulbs and the controller will regulate the voltage applied across the terminals to maintain the required current so that the total power consumed by the bulb is 35 Watts. As the bulb ages, the voltage required to reach the current required such that the output power is 35 Watts will increase. At the end of life for the bulb, the required voltage is too high and the controller will shut down. The result, you start the car, the headlight come on, runs for a shot time and then it shuts off. The voltage range for the bulb will range from 30 to 100 volts, with old bulbs approaching 100 volts. Obviously, as the voltage increases, the current will decrease, as the controller is setting the voltage so that the total power dissipated by the bulb is 35 Watts.
