Too bad I'm in Phoenix, I'd love to help as I installed mine. It's pretty straight forward and I bought mine used without the alignment tool. Lot's of videos on YouTube about that and the removal of console pieces.
Thanks for the answers, let me ask you this, is it worth to put the MGW shifter, did you see any benefits?
I prefer it over the stock as it's just more precise and crisp transitioning between the gates. I feel the MGW helps with the speed (reduced movement) of shifts and a less ambiguous feel versus the stock unit. I also feel the feedback of it helps with proper gate selection. The longer throw of the stock unit in my opinion makes the narrow gate selection more difficult with the M7. My car is not a daily driver, I'm sure if it were I'd be even better. The other great thing about the MGW is if you don't like it, you can always sell it for pretty much what you paid, minus a rubber gasket that gets trimmed during the process.

My opinion is that it's an absolutely noticeable improvement over stock. Shortens the shifts and introduces a precision that the OE will never have. IMHO...
Agree with everyone who said noticeable benefits (i.e., shorter and more precise than stock) and relatively easy install (i.e., provided instructions are good and there are a number of videos available online).
greatly improved for me as well.
first time doing one and took my time a few hours.
watched a few youtube videos to ensure I had the right idea.
be gentle with the trim
use proper plastic trim tools
definitely ensure you have the tools before you start, its a large torque bolt for the shifter cable
also ensure its adjusted properly and torqued to spec before buttoning back up
I did my own too. As mentioned, there are several videos around. It's pretty easy. For me, by far the most time was spend digging out the small allan wrench I dropped during installation. If you do this, consider stuffing some rags or something around the area until you are ready to close up. Dropping something in the tunnel was not fun at all.
As others have mentioned, the shifter is great. Really precise.
Who’s got a good link for decent trim removal tools?
I have this trim tool set from Harbor Freight and it's worked great. Have had the console apart, splash guards, front nose removed and rear facia off with these.
^^^ That's what I heard too. The geometry is supposed to be the same. The standard MGW lets you reuse the stock ****. I went flat stick mainly because I actually liked the retro look of the spherical ****. It also opens you to more aftermarket *****, if you want to try a weighted ****. (I really like a weighted ****)
You can still use aftermarket ***** with the regular shifter. You just have to buy the threaded shifter rod instead of the one designed for the stock ****.
