Default Battery Charger Question

I recently purchased a battery charger for my c7 so I can trickle charge the battery when I’m traveling for a month. I purchased
this charger this charger
with this
cigarette adapter. cigarette adapter.
The cigarette adapter came with some attachment so I was wondering if I’m supposed to connect the cigarette adapter directly to the charger or attach it with the attachment?

also sorry if this is also a silly question but should I be Using the 12V or 6V and in what scenarios would I use one over the other? Thank you!

New to me and I've 7 or 8 chargers/maintainers of 3 different brands (several are "Battery Tender"). Google Battery Tender and/or contact them directly to see what that centerpiece is for. If straight through it's going to reverse the pos & neg contacts! OUCH! I'd say to simply plug in the ciggy to the tender, then plug it into the right-rear socket of your car. All maintainers I've seen will let you know if it is not connected correctly. All the best.

(btw, I cannot see in your pix, but the red and black wires should be the same positions, not reversed, when the connectors are plugged together correctly)

Yeah, just plug the cig lighter adapter to the pigtail from the charger. Must be red-red and black-black.

IIRC 6 volt auto electrical systems were last used in the 1950's - I recall one of the cars I grew up with had a 6 volt system...

Set the charger for 12 volts.

There are RV or deep cycle batteries that are 6 volt which is why that option is available on some chargers. Two 6 volt batteries are connected in series to get 12V (I run 2 - 6 volt batteries in my toy hauler). And the way you have the connection is the first pic should be correct. Not sure why that middle piece adapter would be included unless it were a fuse of some kind or for a very rare car that had a positive grounds system (doubtful).

First picture is correct.

Notice the Red wire going to the + side of the mating connector.

Second picture is using a polarity reversing adaptor, not what you want on your C7.

While the tender has reverse polarity protection....you would think there would be very clear instructions on the adapter.

Yeah some Amazon pigtails you buy are switched.... take that up with China.. but as RONC7 said they sell little black adapters to switch polarity. If you look at some pics of them you can see they are going to be backwards on color coding if you buy extensions.
