New battery won't start the car
New to the forum. I have a 2015 with manual transmission. I was out of town for a week and when I returned the car would not start. I watched 3 different YouTube videos on how to replace the battery. I started out with a Delco battery from the dealer. That did not work so a corvette buddy suggested I go to Costco and get an Interstate battery. The problem is the lights work, the windows work, but the car will not turn over. Pushing the start button does nothing. The green light is on but nothing happens. After a few seconds a chime sounds on. I am trying to determine if the car is in some special mode indicated by the chime. I am not able to get any information from the manual.
Has anyone else had a similar situation and if so what did you do to the get the car started. It is obviously difficult to get the car to the dealer because the doors don't unlock with RKE and I can't release the parking brake.
Thanks for any help.
Scott
The small black wire on the negative battery clamp needs to be intact for proper voltage sensing and charging but should not prevent car start if broken.
If still no joy, check the fuses on top of the battery. Measure the voltage from the negative battery terminal or ground to the positive battery post and to each side of each fuse. You should read around 12.9 volts.
Have you replaced the fob batteries? They are only good for about 3 yr. New batteries should be about 3.29 volts. You will have problems when they get down to about 3 volts. I just change every 3 yr or if the fob starts acting up.
Will the car start if you put the fob in the steering wheel slot? If so, fob is good and fob battery is bad.
