I purchased a 2016 with 22k miles a few weeks ago and began experiencing the shudder. I took it to a nearby Chevrolet dealer with a Corvette mechanic and had it triple flushed for $425.00. I've only put about 1000 miles since, but so far so good. They wanted an extra $300 for the TCM update, I did not do this, as I will be making adjustments myself with EFILive.
That is stupid cheap. I can't afford it.
It is 3.8 hours to do @ $161 an hour. $287.76 for 24 qts of fluid. About $900. I wonder what they corner they cut.
…I am not excatly surewhen the e TCM update came out as some cars might come already updated with the latest firmware . My 2015 did not so I updated it
I would ask the dealer to do a PICO test as this will tell them if its the trans or something else
Dave
Now also wondering what is the PICO...
Do you happen to know what the latest TCM firmware is so I can have more information when I approach my dealer with a different issue?
Without getting to in depth , a short abridged definition is a pico test measures the frequency of the vibration and by determining the frequency you can pinpoint the cause
Vibration caused by a bent wheel can mimic what one would think is the shudder , but if you look at the pico results you would see that it is happening at a different frequency which would eliminate the torque converter as the cause
Anything that rotates has the possibly of causing a harmonic vibration ....

Steve , the dealer will know , as soon as the hook your car up to the GM TDS site using the GM MDI it will read your serial number and list all the updates that are avalable for EVERY module in the car
Is there a way to tell what is available like Windows OS where it lists updates available.
Yep , but the only way to see whats available, you would need a GM MDI device and access to GM TDS site ( formerly known as TIS ) . You can buy a 3 day pass , 1 month pass and a yearly pass . When I need it I just buy the 3 day pass
When you plug your car in and connect , the system will scan all your modules and provide a list of the current firmware and if there are any later versions .
The GM MDI is just acting as a pass thru device between the web site and the car using the OBD port
To upload a later version if avalable is as simple as selecting the update and pushing a button , then following the on screen instructions . A progress bar will show you the status and when complete it will tell you
As with any type of update , it is not for the faint of heart as you don't want anything to interfere with the download as it could brick the module ... low battery in the car , low battery in the laptop , bad internet connection , accidentally bumping the OBD cable.....

Unfortunately they want an hour labor to plug it in and depending on what they see and you want to do, it adds hours to the process.

Dave, thanks for sharing your ideas and wisdom throughout this thread *and this forum*!!! Is a real treat for me to read your posts.
I guess you would have to ask them if they are willing to do it that way
Dave
I didn't even know if that was a possibility. They mentioned that unless there were issues, they prefer not to do it. Kinda why I am thinking that I can scan it and see what I want. Any idea what are the possibilities for updates that if I sent you a PM with the VIN?

Nope , car needs to be plugged in to MDI , connected to a Laptop , which is connected to GM's TDS , TDS is has a minimum charge of 65 dollars for 3 day pass ...
What are you trying to cure ... , just like computer BIOS , you don't want to update just for the sake of updating unless you have a specific problem that might be caused by a module issue

I was just thinking of updating everything just to be current like my phone or TV or laptop?
