I was driving the car and went to slip the clutch to get rolling. I didn’t press the gas to slip it or anything because I was going downhill. As I was slipping it it made a “clunk” noise and it felt like it gave out. It drives and feels the fine since then, the only thing is right after I get the car rolling from a stop it makes the rubbing/clunking noise up until about 10-15 mph. Once it gets past that point it doesn’t make any noise, doesn’t feel different, nothing it feels totally normal. Any ideas?
No, I doubt that crickets are making the clunking / rubbing noise.
Have yet to experience this but since no one responded so far. Possibly the rubber couplers in the driveshaft have started to fail. Sounds like the noise is more prone to happen when overcoming the initial load when starting to move or additional strain when turning.
Put it on stands or on a lift and start checking the drive train.

thanks I’ll probably do a trans flush while I’m there.
Update, took it in and they’re saying the diff is toast. Metal shavings in the diff oil. I figured it was diff or trans but I’m just waiting for a call back. I also found this post with this guys m7 and he explained literally EXACTLY what my car was doing.
