Air filter question

I’ll be changing the air filter in my 17 ZO6 and have read somewhere that when I disconnect the MAF sensor it will cause a check engine light and throw a code UNLESS I disconnect the battery negative terminal first.

True or false?

If your worried about it you can remove the sensor from its housing while leaving the connector attached

Just don't turn on the ignition when it's unplugged. I did mine without any issue. I used the blue one.

i replaced mine with an Air Attack Blue (or whatever it is officially named) last week and have driven the car several times with no issues.
i did NOT disconnect the battery.

side note
what was interesting to me is the cabin air filter was 10x more filthy than the engine air filter.
