Picked up a 2015 last week. It will run but only for a few mins. If you shut it down and restart, it cranks over hard. Once it fires up you have maybe until it gets to operating temp and it will stall out. It will not restart at this point. 6-8 hours later I can get it started.
has spark and 450psi rail pressure during crank.
can the vct cause this? It cranks hard like cam is off timing. Battery is good and new as well. Also it seems to die only in gear taking off. In park it will keep running.
yes I read a couple posts like that. I’ll do that tomorrow.
I posted yesterday about failure to start after doing a torque tube with same exact issues. Alot of diffrent ideas on my thread. Im going to mess with it more this weekend but check your rear 350A battery fuse. Mine was blown.
update.
drained oil and cut open filter didnt really see any metal in the oil. loosened prop shaft clamp and heard a pop. left clamp loose so i coule heat cycle the engine and i noticed the hard starting problem is gone. i didnt get the chance to drive it. ill tighten the clamp today now that its cooled down. it does look like someone reinstalled the exhaust not too long ago. also i bought the car knowing it had problems, thats what i do.
The only thing I'd be worried over is if there was any damage done to the engine between the time they mis installed the torque tube and when you got the car and discovered the issue.
