Default No recentering in steering rack. See last my post and video.

Bought car wreked and older motor electronics part was busted, Seller had thrown on another motor.

But not I have power steering not working correctly, vent to GM service and they sayd that new motor it throwing invalid VIN codes to power steering module box.

Can it be be coded to get to work ? via SPS programming or not ? Service did not help and I have no clear info , if that can be done.
I have 2014 car, but motor seems have to be taken from 16-17 camaro.

Old motor number 7802277659
New motor serial 7802277809
car vin 1G1YA2D70F5109971

If anywone can help with info what to do next, would be very helpful Right now it does not read steering angle and car wonders all over the place... even tho power steering part is working and is speed sensitive also..
I have option to buy older motor. Even tho, they seem indentical... and even then it needs also coding.

I don't think you can program the 14 os to the 16 module ... you can try but if it errors out you will need a 14 -15 module

Are you saying that I need older motor on rack, or I need new steering module, witch is cheaper btw.? 🙂 But, when that is in newer OS, can it create futher errors?

I just helped another Corvette Forum member with this same problem, he was installing a 2019 steering rack ( motor and module) in a late build 2016 and the AC Delco TDS website would error out when trying to perform the updates that would allow it to comunicate on the CANBUS

I am not sure of when GM cut over to new firmware or why TDS will not load , but I am assuming that 2014 to early build 2016 ( not sure of when the cutoff date is exactly ) are compatible and then 2016 late build to 2019 are compatible.

This time frame is also when GM started to encrypt the ECM/BCM, aking it harder to "tune" these models,. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but .......

I can't tell you if the "Motors" are controlled differently, but what I can tell you for sure is that motor is controlled with a PWM signal and it might not be as simple as just "bolting" a motor on as the module needs to know the position of the rack ............ I would try to find a whole rack (motor and module) that is guaranteed to be good .

UPDATE: Now coded from service, also bought new same number motor that was previously on the car.
No change .

Also alignned to tech specs days after that, also no change.

No faul codes at all, but steering works like this - no Centering at all, only when steered right or left to max, then recenter certain amout.

EPS works, easy on low speed, harder on high speed.
Just nocentering, can turn and car will go endlessy, 10-30 degrees and it will stay there.

I searched the forum, but seems like nobody has this kind of problem. My hopes were on aligment, but that was done today and zero changes..

What to try? 2014 model. Bought car used.
I now do have GSD2 and mdi tool, just I have nothing to compare with it, no vettes in my town.
Everythings seems to work, I see degrees, Nm applied to rack, but steering is super weird.
Just like this https://www.crzforum.com/threads/ste...-centre.96085/

Again I have never tried to replace just a motor but if the steering wheel is not returning to center there has to be a problem between the module and the motor , somehow the motor has to know how much to drive the rack in order to return it to center , is there any sensor that you can see ? Maybe it's the steering wheel position sensor that is located at the base of the column . I know when this sensor gets replaced you MUST recenter it using GDS2
