Hi all, I have determined the drivers side door latch on my 2014 convertible is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. I watched a video on line which made it look easy until I opened up the interior panels and found the access completely blocked by the convertible cylinder and mechanisms. The video did not depict a convertible but a coupe with no such mechanisms. Has anyone replaced a door latch on a convertible or have any secrets that could help me? I am hesitant to just start disassembling the top mechanism without knowing more about it. Thanks, Jack
Well, I tried what I could to figure out how to remove the latch but I’m not willing to tear into the convertible top components. I made an appointment at Able so I’m sure it’ll be done right. Thanks!
Ok thanks does the service manual show how to do this on a convertible? If so I may buy one closest chev dealer to me is 1 hr away and I don’t like dealers service department
Update after reading my post it didn’t make sense that door would open on second attempt? I purchased the door dogs and a new switch and now door opens first time. Oh well atleast I have a door latch should I ever need it lol

hello , I have the same issue my c7 convertible door latch actuator is going out and simo i purchased a new one and figured it would be a strsight forward replacement but cane across the same issur you had with convertible mechanism and air cylinder blocking access to the door actuator. Just wondering what happened with yours ? This is possibly a super old posting if you even have car anymore . Just curious what was the shop bill like ? I can't imagine it would take a trained corvette tech long at all and I can find hundreds of coupe video not 1 on a c7 convertible it's so strange . Anyway thank you in advance for your reply I have
to get this part fixed driving me crazy door won't close properly window glass rolls up and slams into soft top 7 out of 10 attempts or when I'm done driving the dang car won't turn off uggh .
thank you
Ken
The dealer was able to swap out my actuator in about an hour. I think it was around $160. I went to Able Chevy in Rio Vista which is the best dealer around. I can’t say if a random dealer would be able to match that. I really wish I could have seen how they did it but I was happy it was done. Good luck with yours…
Well - I'm in the same boat and ran into the exact same issue with that cylinder in front of the opening. I've been searching for the last hour or so for the solution, but so far - I just keep running into guys like us going "Oh what fresh hell is this nonsense?!" That cylinder is in exactly the wrong spot to get that door latch out.
I may wind up having to take it to the dealer, but I'm gonna have to have someone ride over with me as I already have the latch all loose and the cable and top cover off of it. Just can't get the latch out. Makes me wanna go beat on the engineer that did this.

I'm telling you. I called the dealer and asked the service tech for ball park estimate on latch replacement and $1,000 minimum . Really pisses me off because it's such a simple fix im just skittish to start jacking with the convertible top in anyway, my luck the $1,000 price tag will turn into 4 000 for a new mechanism or something. I M more than capable I just need a few of the steps explained as to not cause more damage. I'll update if I get er done
Did you try removing the door panel switch and cleaning the contacts? I replaced my switch because they weren’t that expensive and door latch is working again?

They're charging +-$200 hour with a 2,3,4 hour minimum. They don't want simple +-$200 jobs.
Since you all ready got the interior panels off, you should be able to just loosen whatever parts are in the way. Take pictures, go slow, mark and match the bolts, pins, etc. hole locations, and you should be able to do it, since you're confident that you can replace the sw.
