Default Oil level

2019 Grand sport - just checked the oil level - temp was 199 and running when I checked the level on the dipstick. The level was a good two inches above the hash mark mark that show the proper level (above the top hole). So how do I get the oil down to the proper level? Can I use a syringe and tube and pull the oil up and out through the oil filling hole to get to the proper level? I don't want to go back to the GM dealer and have them redo a oil change. I only have 2000 miles since the dealership changed the oil - I am kicking myself for not checking the oil level sooner. I wonder if there is any damage and how do you prove that the dealership added to much oil.

WHOA! That may be how you check a C8 (motor running) but not a C7.

For base C7 (WET SUMP) - check engine a few minutes after the engine is shut off or really anytime the engine is not running.

For all other C7 models (DRY SUMP) - warm the engine up, turn off, check oil level on dipstick between 5 and 10 minutes after the engine is shut off. (Try and be consistent on time for best results over time.)

It is all in any C7 owner's manual.

RTFM!

Ron

I did read the manual and I got the time and the check mixed up. So I re-read the manual and you are indeed correct - my oil level is in the correct spot. I guess for me at least read twice and then proceed.
