I just figured out, when you lock the car and walk away, then return to the car, you don't have to unlock it. The car knows you are coming back to get in and unlocks it.. Each time you walk away though, you have to lock it.
.
Is this a DUH!

Interesting, I did not know that was an option.
I have Passive Door Locking enabled on mine. When I exit and all doors and hatch are closed, the car automatically locks a few seconds later, at the same time, the horn beeps once and the parking lights flash once. To unlock and open the door, I must touch the door handle sensor.
The door unlocks when you press the door pad and there is a fob in range... You don't have to push the unlock button on the fob. You can configure to only unlock the driver's door or both. Go through ALL the settings and you'll learn a lot.

Regards,
I tried that but I don't like the car locking itself in my garage. Means I have to get key every time I just want to go out to it and open a door. Just as easy to hit the lock button twice on the way out of the car when I want it locked. Do that with my truck also as it doesn't have the passive feature.

Agree, that can be annoying if the cars locks and you do not want it locked.
However, when I park in my garage, before I exit, I press the unlock button until the car chimes 3 times, then the Passive Lock feature is disabled until the car goes through another engine start/stop cycle.

Must be an option setting. I didn't want mine to auto lock (or the stupid horn honk) so I set it not to, but kept the auto unlock. Just walk up with the fob in a pocket and open the door.

Your way sounds better. Not that I ever do that. I just let it auto lock every time. I don't usually go to the car when it is in the garage unless I am driving it, in which case, I need to have the key. It is nice to have it auto lock so that when you walk away after parking it at someplace, it locks for you. No forgetting. Best of all, I don't have the wife asking me if I locked the car.
Yes,,,, when you start driving, the doors lock automatically, but on the 2014 there isn't another, auto lock mode. When you get out of the car you have to hit the key fob lock for the doors to lock.
EDIT:
OOOOH! I am wrong! I found the, passive door lock feature, walk away, horn honks, and locks the doors. Even on the 2014

Not sure on a 14 but my 19 has lock and unlock buttons on the door. I use that to lock the doors when I leave the car. I really never touch the fob.
How do you lock the car when you park it without using the auto lock function or the remote?
I just press the lock button on the door. I have press it twice. It beeps the first time I guess because the fob is still in the car, and then locks the second time.
I'm going to try the hold the lock button for 3 beeps with the setting on passive lock.
