I have a 2017 Standard suspension Stingray 2 LT meaning no z51 or magnetic shocks. I want to upgrade my shocks and considering Bilstein B8’s or B6’s, Is this a good choice or is there better. I do not want to go the coil over route. Thanks in advance for any replies.
The big question,,, why do you want to upgrade it? I have gone through this on a number of different cars, looking forwards to an improvement. Most likely, even with super duper new style shocks, you wont be able to notice any difference. Maybe, if you are racing your car you will feel a difference.
I live in the east TN and enjoy spirited driving in the north Georgia, TN and NC mountains. I noticed a big difference in my C5 when I changed shocks. Being my C7 has the very basic suspension I figure any upgrade will be an improvement. Thanks for your question.
The main difference between the B6 and B8 is length, right? At least that was the case when I had them on my Audi.... once set was made for a lowered car, the other for a normal ride height. I think there was also a difference in mono- vs. dual-tube construction.
My non-z51 has bilsteins, not sure which ones as the PO put them on. I assume they are OEM spec.
Your non-z51 only has a front stabilizer. I wonder if the right first upgrade for you is to get front and rear z51 stabilizers, see if that gets you where you want?
Or consider trading for a z51 w/magnaride.

You want the Z51 sways. The shock aren't going to do much for handling. They will change the ride more firm, but corners & twisties, it's moot without supporting mods.
C7 is a longs ways off from a C5 in the stock handling department.
My Stock 19 Stingray rode like a Buick. Very nice in fact except for the rear bobbing up and down. That was especially noticeable on the interstate going over a bridge where the entrance and exit ramps were not well done. I installed Z51 shocks which fixed that problem. Then since I planned to autocross the car I installed Z51 bars. These reduced body roll. The nice things about the Z51 stuff is that it was designed/tuned by GM engineers, and even so, it is cheap compared to aftermarket.

Why B8? I am reading that for stock springs, you go B6 and for aftermarket lowered, B8.
Thanks for the replies have decided to go with the FE3 rear sway bar and Bilstein B6’s on all four corners.
Now to just find a FE3 sway bar. It seems like all GM supply sources are back ordered'

I have read that if you go with the z51 rear sway you should also replace the front witht he z52 spec sway bar, so that your over/understeer is balanced.
