Default Used car problems

Hello,
1st post here, just purchased a 2016 Stingray 8spd at 51k miles private sale with a few issues..

The dipstick read above the max fill line about half an inch. The car would blow white smoke out of the exhaust every 8-10mins at cruising speeds. As soon as oil was changed and filled to proper level, smoke has not returned.
Next day, the car has thrown a misfire code p0300, after clearing it with OBD reader, it has not come back yet.

Is it possible there is some damage with the overfilled oil from previous owner? and could it have damaged something to cause misfires?
My main question is what would be the recommend maintenance items to go through?

Thanks!

What have you done to investigate the cause of the misfire code?

That's not enough of an oil overfill to matter.

White smoke is usually water or coolant. It it was oil, you'd see blue-ish smoke. If the car sat for a long time it may have a bunch of condensation in the exhaust and you were seeing steam.

The white smoke could also be from fuel. Since you had a P0300 code, I'd check to make sure all the plug wires are fully seated on the coils and plugs. C7s will on occasion pop a plug wire off and when casually viewed it looks like the wire is still attached to the coil or the plug. Remove and re-seat the wires.

If you have a real scanner, looking at misfire counts for each cylinder will narrow down the issue.

When you check the oil is it clear or does it look milky/foamy? Is the coolant at the proper level? The white smoke may indicate a blown head gasket. One way to tell if you have a problem is to do a pressure test on the cooling system to see if it can maintain pressure.

White smoke typically means coolant is being burned, usually from a bad head gasket. Check your coolant level. Ive seen many care 1/2 inch above the mark and never seen any problem from that. Gray or blue gray smoke is oil burn.

How did you check the oil?

If your vette is a Stingray (without the Z51 option), you have a wet sump LT1 engine. Dipstick and oil fill cap are on the left side of the engine. Check the oil with the engine off .

If your vette is a Stingray WITH Z51, GS, Z06, or ZR1 it has a dry sump engine. Run the car until the car is warmed up (oil temp 175 F), turn the engine off, wait between 5 & 10 minutes and THEN check the oil. Dipstick and oil fill cap are on the oil tank mounted to the right fender. If checked cold the oil should be below the dipstick. If you checked COLD and oil was at or above the full line on the dipstick you may need to clean oil out of the air filter housing and air intake system as well as replace the air filter. MAF should be cleaned with MAF specific cleaner.
