Anyone identify what this switch is for. I can’t find it in the manual. Light coms on when turned on if ignition power is on.

Any added lights? Interior or in exterior vents or grille?
Probably have to follow the wires to see what it does. Have fun.

You're going to have to try tracking it down yourself. That switch could be for anything. It's not factory.

Generic switch. Could be anything. Does the red light come on when switched? If not, it's not energized, and does nothing (other than tweak your curiosity).

That's a great idea. Just have to get a dual strand wire from the fuse box and an adapter that works with the fuse.

Yes the light comes on when headlights are also on. As I’m in the UK it’s been suggested it’s a fog light switch, but it can’t be working as nothing extra lights up at the rear.

I would check in the fuse box for any additional (non factory) wires - that could be coming from that switch.
eg A mild to wild circuit would be running to the NPP fuse to disconnect it.

Assume you already checked that the car starts in the down position? Very unlikely to be a kill switch right out in the open.

Try your rear decklid pushbutton below there with the round switch in both positions.
I recall some people doing so because their knees always bump the deck lid release.
