Shifter stuck in Reverse.

Battery measures 12.8v. What can cause the gear shifter to freeze in Reverse

2014 C7 Shifter stuck in Reverse

A friend was able to remove the console. He inserted a flat head screwdriver and pushed the solenoid to unstuck the gear shifter. Pressed the brake (brake lights came on), pushed the start button still no luck in getting the engine to start.

Having a scan tool to see if the car is in park or neutral will help in diagnosing this no crank.
