So I bought the Range device and used it for a day. Car drove great but then after a day I went to crank the car and I get all these faults on the main screen like ride control, power steering, traction control and the car would crank and not go into gear. Also the car wouldn’t fully cut off. The engine would stop but I couldn’t get the gages and radio to cut off. The car kept saying “ shift to park” and the car was in park. Anyone had this happen before? I am taking it to the dealer in a few days to get it scanned
Pull the device and see if the issues go away? If it doesn't you have issues. IF it does, put it back in and see if the issues reappear. That is the only way to know.
I took it off and drove the car twice and on the 3rd crank same thing. I had to finally take apart the console and manually put the car in neutral then crank it. I had the car a month and all was well until I plugged in the Range

If the problem is there after the device is removed, it either broke something or it was just a coincidence. I have doubts it broke anything
I guess I will take it to the dealer and let them scan it. I just spend 3 hours at a gas pump stranded because it wouldn’t shift into drive. First month I had it never had one issue until I plugged that Range in
Which version device do you have? Earlier versions were said to aid in battery drain. Next question, what is the condition of your battery? Low battery voltage is known to cause odd gremlins to surface. Hope this is an easy fix. I've had mine in for over a year now with no issues.

Sounds like “maybe” a communication issue…the dealer is the LAST place I’d take your car to…the car will sit there for weeks and they will be changing a bunch of parts…find an auto electrical specialist instead your area.

Totally agree! Try charging or changing your battery. I also used the Range with no side affects.
Range in place for 4 years. No issues. Did you buy the Range new? If I remember correctly, all it does is change some values in the emissions system readings to keep the car from going into V4 mode. I doubt that it would cause the spectrum of issues you're seeing. But I was wrong once before.

I believe it's a fooler that doesn't allow the ECM to complete the readiness checks. Not sure how that translates to other problems.
Battery is new. It will crank over and over and over it just throws up the warnings on the speedo and says “ shift car into park” but the car is in park! The light on the gear indicator won’t light up and other weird things happen like the blower on the ac won’t blow. I finally had to take apart the console and use a screwdriver to push the button on the shifter to get it in drive. I do have 24 month warranty on it so I hope that helps….
The car normally will not even crank if the car is not in park or neutral…a factory level or equivalent aftermarket scan tool will be needed to look at those starting “inputs” to see what’s going on.
Battery is new. Who did the install? My understanding is that if the metal plate that screws/bolts down to the top of the battery is not properly attached, along with the little black wire, it can cause all sorts of issues.
All the wires look correct and tight on the battery. I mean I drove it with no issues for a month since I bought It from the dealership and zero issues. Then I get the Range and this happens. Could be a coincidence but sure seems fishy
Interesting. No issues for me with an actual Range Device. My service writer knows I use one and he's never mentioned any issues other than being sure to get in some drive cycles without it before emissions testing.
