Help! I have a C7. I got an engine code that the TSM was bad. I went on eBay and found one and he said he programmed it to my VIN. I had it put in and I drove about 200 miles since then. I still have an engine code and now when I pulled it I have the following codes….
p27AA, P27A9, P27A8, P27A7, P27AD, P27AC, P27AB
when I googled it, it says it may have to do with my TSM and I need a calibrate it. Isn’t that what the person did that programmed it to my VIN or am I required to do something else or do you think it’s even related?
I suggest you get a refund and buy it from a dealer. I really don't like to buy used electronics unless they are obsoleted. How do you know if he did what he said he would do?
He said it was brand new but yes, I agree. The crappy part about it is it’s too late to return it.
IDK. As a last ditch, you might have to go to GM and have them try flash it. If you flash a cute smile and wear a low cut dress, they might be willing to flash it and if it doesn't work, sell you a TCM and flash it again for nothing?
The dealer can reflash the module. Having said that, they may decline the service or tell you it costs $x with no guarantee it'll work. Generally they make it expensive enough that the customer will just buy a new one through them and they'll do the install and programming.
I haven't checked but you might be able to do it with a VCX Nano. However, it's a PIA to setup and if you're not car computer savvy you risk doing a lot more harm than good.
What's the engine code you have? My spot check of the codes you listed are for the transmission. P simply means "Powertrain" of which the transmission is part.

I would expect that. After all, you are asking me to make something I didn't sell work. Kinda like you bringing me a steak you bought somewhere else and wasn't cooked right and wanting me to guarantee I can make it right. I can't even guarantee it is working right. I doubt they'll refuse to try for a fee.
Maybe but the answer is "No" if you don't ask. Either way I would not want to drive it with the TCM the way it is.
Learning under the gun with 200 miles of possible damage done isn't my idea of fun. I'd rather she pass it off since she has no "last known good" configuration to go off.
Next Friday, I am leaving on a trip so that’s the soonest I could do it. I used your suggestion, it doesn’t sound like I’m being charged to have it done lol thanks for that.
Hi all! Dealership just called and he said that it was programmed to the VIN, but it was missing another step to have it married. They did that step and all the codes are gone. He is also going to detail the engine compartment for me. He said, I owe him a bottle of his fav liquor. Soooooo happy. Thank you everyone

Nice surprise to know that the seller is doing what he said.
I’m not sure. He’s gonna call me in a little bit so I will ask and let you know.
I'm also curious. Who installed it? They should have married it to the ECM. That might be a dealer task though. Still, any decent tech should know that and not risk your transmission for 200 miles. My friend installed a shifter for my MB when it broke. We did it outside the dealer and he got one of his buddies to let him use the computer connection to talk to the mothership.
