From memory I don't think anyone else can cut them. My local dealer parts guy said if I have a cut key he could use to copy from he'd cut it for free. That was pretty cool of him. Might call some dealers and see if they would do the same deal. Can't be very expensive even if they charge. When you call don't ask for service, go right to the parts counter.
we do trace cuts for $20 and code cuts for $50 at my dealership
The Ace hardware store said they can do it, but you have to purchase their GM FOB with key, $200+. I really don't get it, they said they couldn't cut my blank key because of liability. WHAT!
we use a CNC type mill for cutting our keys, we know what the factory keys are made of and our tooling bit is compatible.
We don't know what your aftermarket cheapo amazon key is made of, if it is steel instead of something softer, it will break our tooling, not worth it for a $20 cut.
I just found out today that my extended warranty under endurance pays up to $500 for the replacement of a key. So, I got to take my fob that I got for $106 from GM parts and return that. One of the requirements of the extended warrant is that I use a dealer for the fob and the programming. That's going to be about $420. But the company said that I should have my reimbursement within 7 to 10 business days for once they get the claim faxed to them. Sounds good to me. I won't be out of any money for an extra fob and key.

How much does your Endurance policy cost per month? Whats your ROI been? Thanks
I don't think we should look at getting a return on the investment. Warranty is not for making money. It is there to mitigate or control any losses incurred. I pay $5000 for a warranty and to get a reasonable return, it would have to pay for more than $5000 to justify my "investment" or what would 4he point be? It also doesn't pay for any inconvenience. I'm good if it doesn't pay for anything since it means I am not inconvenienced with breakdown issues.
I got the key cutter set up correctly. I purchased 4 new blanks. I got the new key cut and it opens the trunk. So back to where I started. If anybody wants an emergency key cut, let me know. I prefer to do this in person, locally. I will only charge you $5 for the blank, only if it works. Extra at your discretion.

I ended up buying 2 key cutting machines (one vertical, one horizontal) and an Autel KM100 to program my own keys for this exact reason.

I should do the same thing. I'm set on keys for the Corvette now. But, I need key fobs for the Dodge Charger and the Ram. I have extra keys but they do not work. Well I have one RAM key that works. If I sell the Dodge Charger, that would be a good selling point to have two programmed keys that work. If you don't mind me asking how much did the programmer and key cutter cost?

The KM100 was around 300. The key cutting machines were around 170 each. I think it's around $300 to get a key & fob cut and programmed at a Dodge Dealer. I've cut and programmed keys for my '17 Hellcat Challenger, 05 Ram 1500, and 2011 Jeep Wrangler, so they've already paid for themselves.
