Default Cam Install

I apologize if there's a good source my inept search effort has failed to turn up, but has anyone put together a "How-to" for cam install for C7 LT1? I'd like to do this myself, but there's really a dearth of useful videos on YT... mostly just partial sequences of shops doing installs. I did do a search surfacing some parts lists and folks going to shops for installs but no installations.

fyreant is the go to for threads on the forums for engine work. very detailed and tons of pics.

I just did a full top end b build and I'll suggest you spend the money for a full vvt delete and not a phaser lockout. the lockout allows 1-2* of movement and most likely your new cam will already have upwards of 6* of timing advance. it costs more to fully delete but its worth it. same for degreeing the cam. many will simply go dot to dot and send it and 99% of the time it works but why risk it? matching the cam card to what you have ensures your install will run properly and allow better tuning when your not chasing a issue. no need to order pushrods until its all back together and lifters heads are installed. then measure from the cam base circle and be aware all pushrods are longer than advertised. btr Moran tsp all will be longer than what you order. not by much but longer. I ordered 7.975" pushrods from btr most were 7.978 or longer

So did you use an adjustable timing set to degree the cam? Or just check all the valve events to confirm no changes were needed?

for my application the cam was degreed to confirm that the cam card specs were the actual specs of the cam. my main concern was that intake centerline was the same. the cam spec was 109* intake my measurement was 108.5* basically the thickness of the degree wheel pointer. exhaust was 121* mine was 120.5 as far as I know theres no adjustable timing set for a lt motor. if the specs dont match it would need a different cam.

I spoke with bunch of kn iowledgable people about this including a master tech for Cadillac who simply went dot to dot. im sure it can be done without issue my add just wouldn't let me sleep at nite until I knew for sure it matched . nerve racking enough the first fire without just winging it!
