Went and changed my engine oil last weekend using my QuickJack. Noticed a large puddle of hydraulic fluid at the rear of one of the jacks. One of the hydraulic lines had worked loose from the lifting cylinder. Lucky the car was already in the air with the QuickJack locked into position. (I do use extra jack stands). Anyway the car easily lowered without any problems and I was then able to tighten the hose connection.
NOTE:
Always check your equipment, such as lifts, before using them. Could of been bad.
This occurred to me while my QJ was lifting. It dropped one side of the car like a hammer. Fortunately, it was only about half way up so the car did not fall off completely. No damage. Just a huge mess!
Used mine this weekend too and always check the hose connections as I have experience connections loosening up. I leave my jacks on the floor of the garage right in front of where I pull my daily SUV in. I actually wory more about corrosion from water (salt in winter) dripping on them off the front of my truck. I try and keep them covered but still worry. They are an amazing tool but damn they scare me every time I get under the vette.

Good warning to be sure that things are checked prior to using a piece of equipment. And using extra safety items such as additional jack stands is a wise idea. Glad things turned out OK.
The hose that connects to the hydraulic cylinder.
There is a 90° elbow coming out of the hydraulic cylinder at the end of this 90° elbow the flexible hose is attached. At this point, the connection somehow loosened up and allowed hydraulic fluid to leak out when it was under pressure.
It was only finger tight at this point in time and a simple crescent. Wrench tightened it up.
All looks good at this time. It’s just one of those things that happen.
