Default Cold Air intakes

I just purchased my 1st corvette a 2016 Z51. I'm just curious how many vette owners have a cold air intake and does it make a big difference over stock? My buddy says to install one as it gives a slight hp bump but better yet helps with throttle control. Thoughts? Thanks in advance

IMHO, you would probably be better off with a Soler throttle body. Depending on the CAI you are looking at there probably isn't much difference in price.

I changed the OEM air filter to the Blue Attack filter. Best bang for the buck. The Soler throttle controller will make the most difference in how the car feels.

Stingrays already have a cold air intake. Upgrading it makes almost no difference in non supercharged C7 engine.

I bought a C6 with a CAI and later switched it back to stock (because of water ingestion concerns). In my opinion it made no difference.

Start with an Attack Blue Filter.

Also, in my opinion a MUST DO mod would be the Soler Throttle Controller AND Throttle Body...https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ler-tb-tc.html

My favorite part of the Halltech intake was how easy the filter was to service (4 screws). It might have made a little more nice noise. Other than that not worth it. Mine was a Z06 that came with it from the previous owner. I've read that any small gain comes from top RPM where the air is needed. For me, on the street, that RPM is not used much (risk of speeding ticket is very high). On track I think it would be more useful.

And my ECS supercharged c7 has the OEM air box. The Corvette team spent a lot more time designing a good, high flow, cold air intake than other vehicles.. on my old Subaru WRX a new intake might have made a difference but in this case you're likely better off with the stock one up to 600ish rwhp

Attack Blue filter and a MAMO ported TB. Fixed my lazy throttle response 100% and no check engine light. No need for a throttle controller either.

I'd say he needs to lay off the drugs but he is partially right. I will do all that IF your restriction lies between the air filter and the throttle body. I don't believe it does. If you have an auto, instead of buying the Range device or clone or any other foolers for the throttle body, get a tune that will increase the tip in via a program and be the Range device as well by removing AFM. You can request it make the shift firmer.
