I'm guessing Z51 is 7:25-7:30 and the Z06 is 7:00-7:10. I have no doubt they've done the testing already. Now how "stock" they are is open to question - there are a lot of ways to make a car lighter, and the Ring is really, after all, a handling track.
I think it would be a bit slower than that, probably closer to the first C6 Z06 lap time. On Laguna Seca is just over 3 seconds slower than the Zor w/Z07 packages, I'd expect that gap to be even bigger over a huge track like the ring.
Screw the grand course and C&D's "lightining lap". Run VIR Full... you know the track EVERYONE runs HPDEs on, what all amateur racing groups run on, etc.

There were rumors on this forum that the first C6 Z06 lap was a full lap (including the extra 200m that they and other manufacturers omit), and from a dead stop. This last point can be confirmed with the Cobalt SS Nurburgring run, which does start from a dead stop. If both points are true, then the original C6Z's lap would be closer to a 7:35. The C7's tires are an improved evolution of the PS2, which itself was 4 seconds faster than the old Goodyear F1s at Road Atlanta with Ron Fellows driving. Different driver, but Pobst was over 2 seconds faster with the C7 at Laguna Seca than Max Angelelli in the original Z06. 7:25-7:30 is believable in the C7 IMO.
For the C7Z, I'm guessing ~7:10 for the usual 1-lap flyer and close to 7 flat to 7:05 for a Nissan-like testing program.
The point was more - how many corvette drivers can drive on the 'Ring?
There are a lot of Corvettes that run @ 'Ring. Ive seen everything from a C3 to a C6. Everytime a Vette pulls up a large crowd gathers instantly. It is something different than the usual 3rd series BMW (mostly beat up ones driven by idiots trying to drift them and failing miserably most of the time...) and the 300-350hp base Carreras...pos minivans and SUVs.
Chevy should set records in the US where purchasers could actually see how they do against pro drivers
The Ring is a track that is most telling of how a car will perform on the road, as it has a huge variety of different corners, elevation changes, surface changes, camber changes, etc. That's why car companies from around the world tune their suspensions there - not just to set laptimes....

But I was just being sarcastic.
hahahah.^^.lots of good youtube videos of this particular German fail!
I am sure people will call me a homer or whatever, but if the C6 ZR1 had been tested in a similar manner as the ACR or GT-R at the Ring it could run close to a 7:12. The point is I think the C7Z may have the potenial to do it depending on how it is tested and this will have nothing to do with them making a ZR1 or not.
