Default C7Z weight

There's a lot of good information out this morning on the new Z, but has anybody read anything about the weight of the car? I hope all this new down force isn't due to the added pounds. So, what do you think the C7Z will weigh in at? I'm guessing 3350 pounds.

I was contemplating a post like this. What do we know for sure?

Supercharger, adds weight
Bigger tires and rims, adds weight

Anyone know the weight difference of the 7 speed manual vs the 6 speed auto? The 8 speed auto is said to be about 8 lbs lighter than the 6 speed.

So far very little info on weight savings.

We don't know if it uses more Carbon Fiber than the base Stingray or if it uses the Magnesium subframe at the Front.

But that weight is for which of the three Z06 models?

The other interesting thing is going to be the weight distribution numbers!!!!

The only way they are going to significantly lighten the car is to de-content it. It is so gadget laden that all the engineering is overwhelmed.

As already stated bigger rims, tires, super charger plus plumbing, additional body work minus lighter weight materials = roughly 3500 lbs. I hope the weight distribution continues with a rear bias. I would love to see at least a 46/54 weight distribution.

I've read all the press release and nothing about the weight! It's clear that it's something they are not proud of, I think it will be very close to the base model weight as they added and take off some

I'm guessing they're going to keep it < 3500. I read that it has a carbon fiber torque tube now vs. the steel one on the base car. The blower is as small as it can be while achieving the power goals. Also, they said some of the engine accessories are lighter than the base car. It seems that they're trying hard to keep weight down on this porker.

Thats somewhat disappointing if this Z06 comes in at 3400-3500 lbs. I got mine down to 3050 lbs with exhaust and CCW wheels.. was hoping for another true lightweight model.

They did say it's still under development, didn't they? That would mean that there could be changes before it goes on sale which is probably why they didn't divulge much info.

Given the base C7 is mid 3300s and the Z51 is 3440 the Z06 will need to pull out some added tricks to be < 3500.

The new cars just have so much more content than the old C5Z (I have one myself). They have bigger brakes, coolers on everything, dry sumps, etc. not to mention the added interior/electronics.

Put the same running gear on a C5Z and it'd be a 3300lb car.

AutoWeek listed it as 3400, I'm thinking 3400+ closer to 3500. Certainly a big add / on over the C6Z

food for thought, the C6Zr1 ended up between 3290 and 3340 depending on 1zr or 3zr option and what not....that was with more carbon fiber stuff than the Z06 to help offste the weight of the supercharger and cooling....I didn't see if the c7Z06 was getting more panel in CF to help offste the weight of the supercharger...if it didn't, I'd say 3400

This is just bad inaccurate info.

Anyone who runs a C5Z at the track has aftermarket brake cooler ducts, engine oil cooler and transmission cooler. So saying a C5Z weighs only 3100 is misleading.

No it's not.. the base C7 was 3300 and change. The Z51 ends up at 3400 and change.
