I'm sure it's over 200. The speedo in the base Vette goes to 200mph, and they changed it to 220mph. No reason to change it unless it can top 200mph, so I'm sure they fully expect it to.

The C6 ZR1 has a VERY impressive top speed rating of 205 mph, it will be real interesting to see if the C7 Z07 tops that. Although I think the C7 Z06 will edge out the C6 ZR1 in just about all the performance categories, I personally don't think it will beat the C6 ZR1's 205 top end speed, primarily b/c of all the downforce the C7 Z06 has which kills top end speed and b/c it probably will be heavier than a C6 ZR1 and make about the same HP.

I'd guess by the time power and weight numbers are finalized, the base C7 Z06 will match, or exceed, the ZR1's top speed...but not the Z07 package with the extra aero. Downforce and drag created by the Z07's agressive aero will impose a penalty there.
With a closer gear ratio in the first 6 gears of the auto car, which may give it a better overall final drive ratio in every gear, I'd guess the C7 would win any time to speed races. Once aero drag kicks in, whoever has the superior drag-to HP ratio (both cars MAY have equivalent final HP figures at the same general RPM and effective final drive ratio), is going to win the top speed race...given enough room to reach Vmax. A C7 Z06 might get to Vmax sooner, but a C6 ZR1 might have the higher Vmax number.
It's all speculation until the final specs are given for the C7 Z06.
100% But a small percentage of guys gets hung up on top speed as a bragging right thing (a close friend of mine is one of them).
I remember, living in Europe, top speed was pretty much the most popular performance indicator. Kind of understandable, particularly in Germany, where one could legally reach tops speeds on the Autobahn.
GM said the CoD will be about the same as the ZR1, which means top speed should be on par with the ZR1. With the car being heavier it will only take more distance/time to get there since the hp/tq are similar. Wouldn't be surprised to see it go 203-205...question is will GM have it certified like the ZR1?
The ZR1 certified at 205, but it's reccorded top speed during one of the 5 (It hink it was 5) runs was 207.xx, if memory serves me right.
and for those thinking the base can go 200 just because the speedo says 220, LOL...

I doubt anyone does since the car is still under development, but...
-Similar Frontal Area to the ZR-1
-Similar Drag to the ZR-1
-Similar HP to the ZR-1
All points to a very similar top speed to the ZR-1. Probably -5>Vmax>1MPH.

ZR1 is .35(C6 Z06 without the Z07 is .34)
Tadge said the C7 Z06 would be between .35 and .37. I'm assuming that he mean the base Z06(with the small front splitter and the Z51 rear spoiler) would be .35 and the level three Z07 with the more aggressive aero aids to increase down force, will be .37.
The top speed of the ACR Viper SRT10 is around 180-185mph with all that 1100 lbs of downforce... I've even read articles where they had a hard time breaking 175mph..
