Ordered 2015 Z06 with 3LZ Z07 package and have order tracking number, ordered it Tuesday and I found out that the first allocations have to be a Z07 package - has any one else gotten their order tracking number? And what are your last numbers in the order number? If it is a Z07 the Z07's will be built first - because they have to use the allocations to fill those packages first - those numbers tell you what position it will be on the production line.
Doesn't make much sense, but ok. There are still restraints on other parts that could be in your order that delay the car. But I haven't heard anything about the Z07 "package" first in line.
The 3LZ and Z07 package is $15,000 combined most of the advertisement for the 2015 Z06 has been with the Z07 package and now you ordered one guess it worked. After that car is built and in dealership they will sell the hell out of the Z06's. Do you think GM would give up the sales from the 2 packages alone for the car not to mention the amount of sales from showing the Z07 package.
You only have a number. That helps you in the ordering sequence for your dealership and those waiting from that dealership only. Better to be first than second. That order must be "accepted for production". that comes when your dealer has an allocation for the upcoming production cycle. All we know so far is how many they will receive for the model year but not when they will receive them. They could all be at the end of the model year. Nobody knows yet. The guy off the street who wanders in the chevy dealership and orders a Z06 next month may get his before yours if that dealer has an allocation not spoken for.

So what are all of your "preliminary order numbers??" this is not the Camaro order tracking fiasco - here's what it looks like on the Chevy ORDER TRACKING web page.
SBGGQ7 for mine. As mentioned, having an order number means your dealer has typed an order into his computer. I had one when the dealer just saved a configuration for me, and got the one I just mentioned when the sales manager entered it as a retail sold order. You need to look in the stickies in the C7 general sub forum, as it has a good explanation of the ordering status codes.
You will find that the GM tracking site you used is somewhat rudimentary, and can be so misleading as to be worthless. GMs internal order status system has almost 30 status codes for the process from order to delivery. The website has five statuses.
Since GM will not even accept a Z06 order until the Sep 18 consensus cycle, (stated in the yearly allocation announcement,) any Z06 order is at best, status 1100. This is equivelent to telling UPS or Fedex you have a package to pickup. Until they actually pick it up, nothing is guaranteed. There are still people with orders placed for 2014 C7s, who never had their order advance past 1100. Until GM accepts the order and assigns it to a dealers allocation, there is no guarantee.
I inquired with my dealer today about my Z06 conv auto order and he told me that he is only able to order coupe manual. He had one and told me if I wanted it he could still change it to my preferences. He said the build date is 9-15 and should arrive mid October.

umm there are no status codes....this is NOT the Camaro order fiasco....you have no numbers at the end BECAUSE you didn't order a Z07 package so yes yours is a preliminary order number

you won't be able to order a convertible for at least a month
You honestly have no idea what you're talking about ... I have a six letter tracking number and I ordered a Z07 as clearly indicated on my build sheet:
Someone, probably your salesman, has been feeding you wrong information, probably to justify to you the $15k over msrp you say he charged you. But if it makes you happy you can keep believing you are the only person in the universe able to get his order in before Sept 18th, despite the fact that GM has explicitly stated it is impossible and the ordering software doesn't allow for it.
Now please stop advising folks about their orders when you don't even know how they work.
