Corvette at Nurburgring NOW

This blue one might be a ZO7 option package with the clear center wicker bill left off. That appears to be whats done here. Maybe the top aero is slowing them down too much on the last big straight. It would not surprise me to see them do this as that last straight is huge and the ZR1 did 181mph on it.
I can see where a new spoiler might offered in the future that could be more radical in appearance (like a low wing type) but not cause such an abrupt change of airflow direction.

The new 2016 Camaro looks to be faster than the previous model. But it certainly does not carry the corner speed like the Vette though.

Yes it would but if it don't beat the old record by at least a minute they'll still bitch anyway....

I know it's blasphemy on a corvette forum, but since I've owned a Vette I can say it. Large displacement push-rod V8's all sound the same, like truck engines and aren't very impressive. I much prefer high revving lower displacement DOHC engine sounds like from Ferrari.
But then again I don't particularly like the sound of Porsche's/flat engines either. Jag and Aston make some nice sounds...

LOL, they're bored by the buzzy high revving Ferrari sounds. I guess it's just what you are used to hearing all the time. Anything else sounds excotic.

Thanks Skank, for the great conversation regarding corvettes finest engineering feat, I watched the video and you are right the z06 sounds wicked and I can't wait to see one in person, my garage would be best but not likely. Sorry if I embarrassed you at the store... Lovin my grand sport and always look forward to talking corvettes with you, I have learned a lot from you. Dirk the jerk

Want to know why the Z28 is fast? 305 section all around stickier than cup2 tire.
If Nissan dresses the Nismo GTR in Trofeo R tires...run.

You can see Jim Mero with his blue and black driving gloves in the first still shot of the video. Same gloves that he used in the ZR1 7:19 run. They are just putzing around with their windows down. Wait until he gets serious and does his fast lap. Those windows will be up. Watch the start of this ZR1 video and look at his gloves.

You can forget about that. The tires are the single most important piece that makes the Z07 faster. Non-Z07s would not even get close to ZR1 times. Look at how slow the ZR1 was before Chevy dressed it in cup tires.

They are not as good as PSC's but so much closer that it is now ridiculous to run cups on the street with such a close alternative available that is rated for 35,000 miles of "normal street driving" versus footage for the cups

I agree, but to compare the new Super Sport tires to what the C6 Z cars had prior to the Sport Cups would not be giving the new SS tires their due. Look at how the new Z51 C7 with more weight and less power caught up to the ZO6 times mostly due to the new SS tire.

The new Cup 2 are rated 180 threadwear compared to 220 on the new SS. Thats not nearly as much of a difference as last year's cups at 80. The difference in wear will be minimal
