I ran into Lou of LGM at MSR Cresson on Saturday, where he was testing a new C7 Z51 on Pirelli "Cup" slicks. It was an A8 Automatic! He says that the auto tends to overheat in track usage, BUT that they (LGM) has already engineered and produced a "fix". BTW I did not take times, but he was running away from a race prepared C5 Z06 on slicks, and the up and down shifts were "blindingly fast!"

Not sure how valid of a performance comparison that is. You could put Lou into the same C5Z and he would run away from most of us on the forum.

It seems that Lou would be the one many of us would like to hear from on the delay between hitting the paddle and the shift occurring in tap mode. It would be nice to hear his thoughts on the time of the total shift process compared to a DCT.

I'd be interested in his impressions as well. I met Lou a couple years back at the Texas Mile. For being such an accomplished race car driver and performance shop owner, he's the most down-to-earth good guy you could meet. Didn't know me from Adam, yet spent a good bit of time talking to me about my car, the numbers I was running etc. Good dude.

If anybody in here hasn't watched the videos of Lou's record breaking Hill Climb runs in his C6 ZR1, you should. Will make the hair stand up on your neck.

And I agree with Bill - Lou could outrun all of us in a Camry.

Give him a call....he will talk with you. BUT...........from trackside, the shifts (both up and down) were incredibly quick (WAaaay quicker than a manual) and very forceful!

From Motor Trend:
The gearbox knocked off gears at its indicated 6500 rpm abruptly, spectacularly, with an accompanying violent explosion that only a 6.2-liter V-8 with quad pipes could produce. As corners neared, downshifts were again crisp. Deep inside corners, gears held with no moments of confusion or hesitation — it was as if the CPU was more intuitive than reactive; more organic than robotic — which ballooned my confidence and allowed me to pinpoint the longish nose.

Hey Guys, Keep those compliments coming>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I don't deserve them but I try to be the same normal hot rodder i have always been. I just worked hard to build this company that kept me in race cars. I hope we can help the cause for everyone. (and I get to do all the testing :-) )

The Paddle shift transmission overheating problem is a thing of the past. Our kit will be available in production in about 8-10 weeks but for now, we can build special order kits if you are heading to the track soon.

The car had our LG Coil over shock package for the C7 plus our LG Big bars, sway bar kit plus of course our LG pro Long tube headers, a small LG G7 X1 cam, Super cool radiator and Carbon Splitter and Rocker ground effects.

The car did a 1:19.2 for a lap time.

OK Back on topic. The car is a 2014 C7 with the normal 6 speed Auto. When we took it to Texas Motor Speedway for the Lone Star CorvetteClassic, the transmission temps would be so high the car would stop shifting and it would go into Limp home mode and tell you to "Cool the Transmission".

So to solve that issue, we built a special transmission oil pan that holds more fluid than stock PLUS we had a new transmission cooler built that is a more conventional heat exchanger, like the car radiator.

These two things allowed me to run the whole session at will and the transmission temps never went over 260 degrees. It fits in the stock location.

So our Cooler solution is enough to allow anyone with a Paddle shift, 2014 C7 to go to the track without worrying. I hear the C7 Z06 also has cooling issues. No worries, we can handle it.

Now for the shifting. Yes there is a delay. it is nothing that you can not plan for but it is about a half second delay. I got use to it and it was not an issue. once the shift was activated, it is a quick and solid shift.

Down shifts did not allow you to just pick a lower gear and engage it quickly. The car needed the road speed to be in the range that the PCM allowed. I think we can widen the road speed range a little but for now the car was drivable as is. Going into a 2nd gear corner, downshifting from 3rd, mandated that the road speed be closer (Lower) to what I was going to take the corner at.

At the end of the straight, once again, the only issue was that the car vehicle speed had to be closer to the range that 2nd gear was designed to function at. Again, it was easy to get use to.

By the way. the car got down to a 1:19.2 for the day. We were filming some footage for a new TV Show.

thanks guys,

Lou Gigliotti
