Curious if anyone knows how easy it is to change out the front splitter?
I'll be daily driving this thing as soon as I get it into Manhattan. However, I promised Monte and R&T that I'd take some photos and video of it in my father-in-law's garage. I'd like the CF splitter and larger winglets for the photos however I should probably be adult about it and put the standard splitter on for the winter commuting. I'm asking so I can figure out how I want the dealership to prep it.
Additionally, are the dealerships willing to slightly lower the car? Do you need to realign the car after a factory bolt drop? I'm not looking for slammed, just a proper look.
I don't know about the C7s, but on the C6s, changing the splitter takes awhile and is easier done on a lift. Usually it is recommended to check the align after lowering. But I am going to drive the car awhile to see if it settles before lowering. Just my .02 JD
From what i see the splitters are not on the Z06 at the plant.I assume the dealer will install them, which means that it's probably a simple bolt on
I don't see any issues with changing splitters.
Gene, my guess is that it's fairly easy, even without a lift. If you look underneath the front bumper of a Stingray, there are 10 bolts along the bottom edge that you'd remove and use to install a splitter. I'd imagine that the Z06 would be similar if not identical. With a proper ratchet & socket they should be accessible even without a lift. You might have to remove the air dam, though.

FWIW...my Z51 Z7 with MSRC settled ~3/16" front and ~1/8" rear after a few weeks and several hundred miles.
I ended up lowering it just a little...3/8" front and 5/8" rear. It sat good from the factory, and IMO sits perfect now.

During the PDI on delivery of my C7 Z51 I threw the guy a couple bucks. I had him drop car all the way on factory bolts. After 3000 miles IMO it still needed to go a little lower
I doubt if it's any different than the C6 Z06/ZR1 etc. My Z6 Z06 has 13 attachment screws holding the splitter on and it took me around 30 minutes to remove the old one and put on a new one. And that was done on my driveway, and not on my lift.

That all sounds good. Realistically for me, I will only put the front spliter on for Infineon raceway and Thunderhill. I think it would break on Laguna Seca and in every day driving conditions.
I was thinking of making up for the fact that the front of mine will never have that downforce. Maybe 305 section Trofeo R tires up front?

Which version of the front splitter are you getting? The base or the stage 2? I would think the base splitter would stand up to a little more "hits" than the stage 2, and possibly be cheaper to replace if damaged.

Stage 3, it's a Z07. I figure I should try to get max downforce for track use. Stage 3 front and lowering on stock bolts. Then remove the front spoiler entirely to be able to drive daily. I'm sure I'll break Level 1 too.

I just changed my ZR1's splitter out this weekend due to a highway mishap, and it took longer to get the car in the air than it did to do the swap. Eight bolts and a buddy to help hold it up. Duct tape could be used in place of another set of hands while tightening the bolts.
Ok dumb question: if a person is getting museum delivery, essentially the dealer is out of the picture, I assume someone at the plant will install the splitter?

Best,

If you leave the Stage 3 splitter on, I bet you could plow the snow in your driveway!
Does anyone know, if I order the "basic" Z06, if there is such a thing, can I just bolt on a Stage 2 package later?
The CF dash was $995 msrp when ordered with my 2014 C7, I was able to buy it from a GM dealer parts dept for $510 OEM.
That said I assume the aero parts will be available at a discount too.
