As noted in that other forum, after reading the whole thread, it seems about 95% that is a worker in the car. So I guess in the end the cars have 1 un-needed start. One un-needed door opening. One un-needed sit down in the seat. All from a worker at the dealer who was in it anyway. Probably the prep guy. Its certainly not as bad as it sounded at first, like it was some random Joe from the street. Of course posting pictures and taking videos does not seem to cool without consent.
-- Good old social media getting another person in trouble or fired........
I would be more concerned about bringing a car to certain dealers who pay there mechanics by the job, not by the hour. I know a veteran mechanic wrench head. ( a excellent mechanic ) Has to buy his own tools, and on average, make $10-12 bucks an hour working on cars just like this. A lot of these guys are pro's, working on cars that fixed un-correctlly can kill you. Imagine seeing the sign everyday going to work, seeing where they charge $90 an hour for labor. I feel mechanics should get paid more. Sure a head tech makes a good buck, everyone else there, not so much.

This comment was made previously by the author of the thread and videos on the other site... Do ya think he cares?
"It's possible. I'm 22 and I have 2014 s550 2011 bmw 750i 2014 stingray (sold) taking delivery of my 2015 stingray. I have a Z06 on order. 2 lamborghini huracan on order. 2 bmw i8's on order and 2 bentley suv on order. Nothing is impossible. Age is just a number. If you can afford it. Go for it."
Imagine... I worked my life for my Z purchase and am putting in double the workload just to cut the price down...
To me...we can always live by "what you don't know won't hurt ya" but what if you were the guy on this site thinking this was your Vette? Someone has already posted both piks and vids of them checking out the exhaust, jumping in, piks with the g/f leaning in the window...
Yeah, well I think he's not truthful. He has $1.3mill worth of cars 'on order' at 22? Oh, and he buys multiples of cars?
I found his instagram; he likes taking pictures of himself in OTHER peoples cars;
His family has some money, but not dropping $1.3million worth of coin on redundant vehicles money. My bet is he works at some sort of dealer or he has some inheritance which he's floating ~150k worth of car on.
Just a heads up, the guy doesn't work there. Unfortunately, I found this whole mess (as the guy buying the Leguna Blue) through other forms of social media. The guy in the car just saw a post on instagram and asked the guy that posted the picture if he could come by and look at the car. That lacks professionalism....at best. Not sure if I plan on having my service done there at this point. The picture I saw I simply said "Would be nice if random people would stop ****ing around in my car". A lot of you say you don't care...well, let them crawl around in your ****. I see this as poor judgement on the part of the dealership. The guy isn't even a customer there. He just saw the car on IG and asked to come look at it.

Reason: Double post
At first I was think "WTF man, who would do that???" but then I saw the pics, and the guys looked so happy, I couldn't help to feel sympathy for them
I'd rather nobody did that to my car, but they're just enthusiasts like we all are
Geoff
I agree with you. My issue is with the dealership's judgement here. I am not particularly upset with the guy taking pictures. I think it's a bit chicken ****. I wouldn't crawl into a car a family member bought before they did. Call me old fashioned.

you need never enter the Festival of Speed. A few years ago entered our Ferrari , went to lunch only to come back and find people in line sitting and fiddling in our car and others. Two older teens were yanking on our friends 458 to see how the front spoiler is attached. So bad we wanted to leave early and they would not allow us, so used my head and informed them I was a Dr. and the older guy next to me was having Chest Pains. We got an escort out and have vowed never to enter again!
Wow....just WOW.

The dealer will probably just throw in a free tank of gas or something....not likely to knock off any serious dough.
(God, I hate fncking dealers)

AFAIK, a deposit (that is accepted by a dealer) on an order would mean the car "belongs" to the buyer.
A deposit is a Promise to Pay (like a check that hasn't cleared the dealer's bank).
thanks to social media stuff like this gets caught, just disrespectful. No matter where you stand on the fence the dealer should cater to the highest standard. Once the customer gets the car if he wants randos in their car it is his choice and until then only the required people should be allowed.

Agreed. Clown shoes can mess around with his own cars
This doesn't surprise me at all. Unless you meet the car at the dealership, a new style Corvette always brings a LOT of attention. It's a Chevy dealership-what did you expect ? Ferrari type care ? Not gonna happen.
Wait till you find out what Jose the $5 an hour car wash guy the dealer employs did.

That's not true for all dealers. The dealer where I got my StingRay last year, would not let anybody touch customers cars, period, let alone allow them to get in and start them.
When I went to see these two Z06's in person, I insisted on a salesman escort me back to the shop, and neither my daughter no I laid finger on them. We looked at them very closely without touching them.
It is a funny thing... Down here I hunted to find the just the right dealer and was surprised to find Leggat Chev where they actually have cameras on each bay, with monitors in the waiting area, for each customer. They said that this was suggested and they thought it would be an asset to customer service.
Similarly, I remember reading an article only recently where Chev bragged that their move to wrapping the car was done completely for the customer...kinda kiboshes that.
If I were the car owner here, I wouldn't be deterred from the car at all but I would take a very close look and then professionally explain to the dealer how bad this looks in social media, how bad it might look to GM and their response to such might assist in reputation reparations. I would have no problem asking "What can you do for me to ensure I am a happy customer now and in the future?" I do think the dealer might assist because, well, even the loss of one vette sale is thousands of dollars and Autonation is on the pedestal right now.
As for the clowns that hopped in and out, unfortunately there is nothing you can do and I don't even think the big guy understood that what he did might affect another. He is 22 and this can only be expected. Their only goal was being the first to hit their friends praise in cocial media; its the world in which we now live.
I bought many 100k+ cars and could careless if someone had sex on my seats. Seriously, those pictures look like they were taken by normal people, nothing excessive.
The expression is "couldn't care less". Just for future reference.
For one, the car will be fine. If you are concerned about someone sitting and starting up the car, why are you buying a HIPO car that can take a beating? It isn't a piece of glass.
The only real concern is the dealership lacks integrity. My worry would be that if you take it in for service it would be used for coffee runs and wrapped around a tree.
Whose position would you rather be in? Be fortunate that you are taking her home. Congrats on the new ride
When I was little and in the early 90s my dad was picking up my moms new porsche and I was just 4-5 years old and crawling around in the car very excited. The sales man looked at my dad and said I can't believe you let your son do that, his response? It's just a car and he can't hurt it. Maybe that's where I get it from.
So sorry! It shows a total lack of respect by the dealer. And from your photos it looks like they are the dealer that also ripped your car cover to shreds.
Fill out the Chevrolet Customer "Purchase and Delivery Satisfaction Survey" that you will be emailed and find somewhere else for service!
And to add, I'm iffy on this situation. Taking pictures in someones car is fine, but ask PERMISSION first. I let people drive my vettes all the time, but they have to ask first. In the end, it is just a car, but its MY car that I spent $105k+ on. Respect other peoples property.
When you pay 100k for a car the dealer should understand that other folks should handle it with care and only when necessary. Did the kid do any damage, probably not. But what if he did? He can sit in one when he buys his own.
