Give it a rest.

The forum has swing from wild hype to outright dissapointment. It's like everyone is piling on.

I decided to skip the first model year long before any test results were run. Why? Simple. To work out the kinks. Look at the 2006 Z06 vs the 2011 Carbon Z07. Noticeable improvement. Just give it some time.

Not that the 2006 Z06 was a dog, by any means.

I agree... everyone R-E-L-A-X. It's a fantastic car. I still don't see why everyone thought that _in a straight line_ it would be faster than a ZR-1 or Gen V Viper. HP/weight/gearing... all so very close.

Enjoy the car for what it is, and take a deep breath.

if you're trying to be the fastest out there, you will mod the car anyway, at which point all this stock for stock stuff is a moot point.

Life is short. If you have the means, enjoy the car right away as you never know what the future holds. Then, you can always trade it in on one that is more to your liking. This issue WILL BE FIXED, its just a matter of time (By GM, with a tune, whatever). GM will not let this car disappoint. Until then, I will enjoy my new Z06 that I pick on the 26th.

BTW, the 2006 Z06, some say, was the fastest and the most light weight.

2001 Z06 (issues), 2006/2007 Z06 (issues), and now the 2015 Z06 (issues). I tip my hat off to the enthusiasts who were willing to go with the first year model. This car is truly amazing. Let us stand by all those that currently have the car or about to get the first year model. GM will need to stand by their name and make sure they take care of any issues that may arise.

It looks like I won't be buying until the 3rd year model comes out. I am interested to see what improvements they make by then but I will definitely be on here reading every one's experience with this amazing car

The 2006 Z06 is a great car. Nine 100% problem free years on my Z06. You might be thinking of the 2005 C6 which had more than its share of first year problems.

I don't understand why people obsess over 1/2 second faster lap times by professional drivers or losing by 1/4 length of a car in a roll race.

All of these cars, cars more and less expensive, are pretty equal in terms of performance that the average purchasers can get out of them.

Buy what suits your fancy.

I admire your patience. But when you consider the age of the average corvette owner, 5 years might be too long to wait

We have to wait 5 years? LMFAO ... No man.. GM has released the product already. It must be good NOW, not tomorrow.
The 650hp sportscar that battles so hard to reach the 160mph is a FAIL and Joke. I was planning to buy that, but now... No, thanks. I dont wanna be embarrassed on the Europe's highways by the less powerful SEDANS.. lol Not talking about the sportcars and supercars... What a shame. And yes, I don't give a damn about the race tracks. Just like most of the people.

I for one am enjoying every second of driving my new Z06. It's the most powerful car I've ever driven, handles like it's on rails, and puts laugh out loud grins on my face. It's the total package of comfort, looks, and performance.

Also, consider this...

I fly the F-22, which is the baddest high performance fighter jet in existence. Except it isn't. Guess who owns almost all the performance records? A totally stripped out piece of crap Russian Su-27 from the 90s called the P-42. But the F-22 is NEARLY as powerful with the full array of combat systems, missiles, computers, etc. Bottom line is the total package matters!

The new Z is incredible for what it is. If you want a true race car or drag car, well, they make those too, and you should get one. But I bought a Z and have loved every one of the miles I've put on her.

As much as I'd have loved to see the Z whoop everything in every way..... Let's be real here, there is some stiff competition!

The videos with the Viper, we are talking a car length or two? Big deal... The Vette is not a drag racer.

I don't regret my purchase at all. The car is amazing.... I doubt anyone that actually owns one is even remotely disappointed in their purchase. One member has reported a heat soak issue..... One.

Everyone, please enjoy a coke & a smile!

While I agree with your post lets be fair and acknowledge that the Viper is not a drag racer either

Finally, a positive comment. I cant wait for mine that I will pick up on the 26th. This issue will be repaired one way or another. We still need a larger sample size before we jump to conclusions.

Good point sir!

I would be interested to see the two cars on a road course.

But regardless of the outcome, I certainly wouldn't sell my Z for one.

You're going to love the car. Dont be even remotely skeptical.

There will always be naysayers.
