GM's DOD lifters are garbage
More motors will fail from them in the future just like all the other platforms that have used them

Z06 Failure
My 2015 Z06 sits Dead at the dealership and GM refused to fix it as of today saying that my ECU had been unlocked 10 times and it is not covered under warranty !!! I have not touched the ECU ! why would I ? It cannot handle the HP it already has ! This is my 1st GM product and I was proud to buy an American product . The car has 2500 miles and has not been to a track ! My advice to everyone is ask to see the ECU records before buying this car . Sounds crazy but just giving my experience to date . If anyone can help please do .

^ did the dealer's service dept. unlock the ECU ? something doesn't sound right...
get the area zone rep. involved and calmly explain that you haven't tampered with the ECU
(assume this is on a new car first bought by you)
keep elevating the case up the chain if you have to...

2) what does dead mean?
3) did the dealer provide a written warranty denial specifically identifying 10 ECU events?
4) what was the car doing when it died?
5) provide some details to your story

Of course he plans on selling it. You do realize that that virtually nobody keeps cars until they die?
What an odd argument you make.
He is entitled and should pursue relief from GM.

In this day of social media, this car with replaced engine certainly has a diminished resale value. Especially since it is a performance/high end vehicle. Imagine two cars for sale w same mileage options etc. both at same price, but one has a history of an engine change. Which one are you going to buy? AND......how much less for the engine changed Z to get you to buy? We all know that the dealer mechanics are not exacting as on the line installers, doing it all in sequence over and over with the proper torque specified wrenches...right? Not a big deal w a Vega, but?

That depends on a lot of variables. Two cars with 1500 miles. I would pick the one with the original motor.
Two with 50k. I would pick the one with the least engine miles.
The reality is a replaced engine can bet just as good as or better than the factory one.
If it's a driving car I could not care less about numbers matching.
